Early User Reviews Of Forza Motorsport 7 Aren’t That Favorable, Here Are Some Fixes

Forza Motorsport is one of Microsoft’s key titles that would be able to show off the potential of the Xbox One X. Microsoft announced and confirmed that the Xbox One X would support full native 4K/60FPS on the Xbox One X along with support for HDR and a ton of other goodies.

With Microsoft announcing the launch of Forza Motorsport 7 demo just a few days ago, early reviews from Windows 10 users aren’t turning in that favorable. Users on the Microsoft Store have been complaining about a ton of issues with the game in its recent form as of today. The absence of support for 21:9 displays along with the numerous amount of crashes has frustrated a number of users. Soon after the downloads for Forza Motorsport 7 went live, it didn’t take much time for users to bog down the 5-star rated game. PC Gamers have been reporting crashes with moderately high configurations. And this isn’t just one person complaining. Crashes have been taking over the hearts of quite a number of users trying out the demo. Alongside the crashes, users have also be reporting that they aren’t able to get past the start screen for some reason.

On top of that, a number of issues who own 21:9 ultra-wide displays have also been let down due to the absence of their resolution in the options menu. This is immense feature that really disappoints me. There’s a decent number of users who own 21:9 displays and yet they didn’t implement it.

Regarding the issues with the performance, the developer said:

Just we have a known issue where players who are running MSI Afterburner may experience crashes and poor performance when trying to play the demo. While we investigate this, we suggest fully closing MSI Afterburner while you play the demo.

Some Fixes

A number of PC Gamers install MSI Afterburner, a program developed by MSI that allows PC gamers to overclock their GPUs and allow monitor their systems in real-time. This could be the root cause of the issue. Try killing MSI Afterburner from the Task Manager and try relaunching the game again.

For those who own 21:9 displays, it seems like Turn10 hasn’t added the option for your resolutions into the game. However, what you could do is that you could set your resolution to “Native” in the video options. Let us know how this works for you.

Nonetheless it seems like Turn10 has taken note of a number of these issues. They have been active at replying to a number of negative reviews and have offered some temporary. Let’s just hope they have a stable launch for Forza Motorsport 7 at its launch next month and make it look like an actual PC title.

    • Couldn’t agree more.

Advertising….. PCs are the most powerful devices and deliver the best performance

Reality….. not all PCs are created equal and in order to get that great performance you have to tweak and monitor all the components yourself.

Just get a Xbox One X and you wont have to worry about trying to tweak push and prod….. spend more time gaming.

    • Performance is much better than on xbx on many PC’s.
Issues mentioned above simply saying F7 is mediocre racing game. PC gamers have much better titles for real sim racing like iRacing, rFactor, Race Room just to name a few. F7 might be great on consoles, with a game pad and stuff, but it is simply a simcade racer.
As for the technical issues, those showing how poor are dev skills with PC,not the quality of PC itself. Devs still have to learn how to write a game on something else than xbox. And we know how bad the first party games pc ports has been in past (quantum break anyone?) so lets hope they will learn quickly and patch it.

Lets say it this way: you have a great, difficult and physic heavy game like iRacing which runs flawlessly on most of the PC’s. And then we have f7 which works quite badly on same PC’s. This mean the game code is shit, not the platform.

    • Many but not all….. and you can reverse the phrase too. Xbox performs better than many PCs.

Forza 7 being a mediocre racing game is like saying Victoria Secrets only higher obese models…….. in other words complete total f&^king stupidity and makes your breathe stink for just saying something that dumb.

All those racing game you mentioned…… never heard of a single one. They could never be made again and no one would care.

As for PC development……. the problem lies in there not being a universal spec so no matter what they do you will always have potential issues. That’s why PC gamers ultimate goal is to make a PC that can over run the most demanding games so even when things aren’t optimized they can just brute force through it…… That is a solution but very expensive.

    • Of course, XBX performs better than many other PC. The point is, to play Forza 7 in 4k/60 FPS you need i3 and nVidia 1060… which is similar price, or just a bit more than xbx, you can always throw in a 1070 just to be sure.

And yes, I wasn’t precise with racing genre. Forza is simply not sim racing game. It might be fun race game, but it is not a sim as many claims it is, and I do like sims a lot. So yeah, sorry for not being clear.

If you haven’t hear of those games – don’t worry. They are not available on consoles, and they require some solid skills as well. If you were interested in racing sims you’d know them by heart beat, but many arcade players do not care, and that’s perfectly fine.

As for PC, it’s usually not true – most of the games, Forza 7 included, are quite well optimized. Just handful of titles were bad console ports, but there is huge number of games PC only, and hard to get them wrong.
Usually a current mid-lev PC (i5, 1060/1070) will play all games in ultra in 1080p in 60/120 fps, which is really fine. Many games are playable on full 4k as well, but – as PC games do not use this much of ‘cheating’ techniques to pretend 4k, you’d have to use 1080(/ti) to ensure full, real 4k in all titles.

  1. And this actually highlights the inherent problem PC has. PCs aren’t all the same so we have people with computers that aren’t good enough to run the game perfect complaining and people that have computers that can run the game perfect loving it. This is not the game its the hardware.

Just get a Xbox One X if you don’t want to high performance on optimized hardware.

  2. Look at the track list before you shell out £50 for this. It’s basically Forza 6.5. Watching vids of the Xbox One S version up against the Xbox X version, they’re virtually the same. But as per usual, some gamers wear rose tinted glasses and swear there’s a massive difference.
