Fortnite v5.40 Content Update Released – Adds Suppressed SCAR & Disables Video Recording For The Switch

The folks over at Epic have finally released the patch notes for Content Update 5.40. After struggling to release update 5.40 a few days ago due to a few internal issues, the folks over at Epic have released a content update that is said to bring some fresh cheese to the table.

With Content Update 5.40 live, players should now be able to experience the all-new SCAR, that is, the suppressed SCAR. The Suppressed SCAR introduces a suppressed mechanic to the already fan-favorite SCAR. With the Suppressed SCAR, the folks over at Epic are willing to teach players about trigger discipline. The Suppressed SCAR is available in two classes, Epic and Legendary. The rifle deals 32 or 33 damage per shot respective of their rarity class.

However, with the addition of the Suppressed SCAR, the folks over at Epic Games have pulled back the Drum Gun, after vaulting the Revolver with Update 5.40.

For the Nintendo Switch, Epic Games has yet another shift in their stance. With Content Update 5.40, Epic has disabled Video Capture for Nintendo Switch player in an effort to enhance the performance of the game on the hybrid console.

Additional slight improvements found from the patch notes includes patching player model bugs occuring during the High Stakes event as well as fixing the Enforcer skin from glitching at certain angles. Regarding players complaining about not receiving their challenge credits in Getaway LTM, Epic quickly took notice and has already patched the issue shortly after the launch of update 5.40.

Here’s the full patch notes obtained via Epic Games.
