LG Unveils The LG V40 ThinQ – Its A Powerhouse

LG has finally unveiled their next big thing after the G7 ThinQ, the LG V40 ThinQ. As we reported and speculated about the V40, it turned out to be that same amazing beast that we were expecting. The LG V40 ThinQ comes in four colors off the bat and comes with the usual specs that you’d expect from an Android flagship. In addition to that, the LG V40 ThinQ packs a triple camera setup at its rear and a dual camera setup on the front too.

On the inside, the LG V40 ThinQ packs a Snapdragon 845 SoC, up to 6GB RAM, up to 128GB of internal storage, a 6.4-inch 19.5:9 QHD+ OLED HDR-enabled FullVision Display with a resolution of 3120 x 1440 and a 3300mAh battery on the inside. Did we forget to mention that it supports wireless charging as well? Being an LG device, there’s an abundance in audio detail as well as in storage expansion. Not only does the LG V40 ThinQ retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, but it also features the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC and DTS:X 3D Surround Sound for an incredible audio experience if you have the headphones to take full advantage of it.

In addition to that, the five cameras touted by LG in their initial tease turned out in our speculation’s favor. The LG V40 does indeed pack five cameras within its shell. However, three out of five of those cameras are the at the back while two of them rest on the front of the device. The trio at the back each serve a specific feature and are independently operated. At the back, aside from the main camera, you’ll find a telephoto camera along with a wide-angle camera that could capture 107° of its vision. The cameras also feature a slew of AI capabilities put in place by LG to enhance the images taken from the cameras present on the LG V40 ThinQ. Here’s how the cameras have been distributed.

Rear Camera
12MP Standard Camera (F1.5 / 1.4μm / 78°)
12MP Telephoto (F2.4 / 1.0μm / 45°/ 2x Optical Zoom)
16MP Super Wide (F1.9 / 1.0μm / 107°)

Front Camera
8MP Standard Camera (F1.9 / 1.12μm / 80°)
5MP Wide Camera (F2.2 / 1.12μm / 90°)

Overall the device weighs about 169g for being a device of this size. In comparison, Samsung’s recent flagships weigh well beyond the 180g mark. But then, you have to keep in mind that the Galaxy Note 9 does feature a way larger battery than the V40 ThinQ does.

For now, the device is available in four colors, that is, Blue, Red, Silver and Black at launch. In addition to that, the launch price starts at $899. At least it didn’t hit the $1000 mark.
