Nvidia’s new RTX cards are finally making their way to customers. Amidst the fresh full launch of Activision’s Call Of Duty Black Ops 4, Nvidia decided to release some impressive gameplay featuring the RTX 2080 Ti at 4K Ultra settings on PC.
As expected, the newly announced Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti simply tears through Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at 4K. Nvidia made sure to showcase how well the Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti fares during their recording by showing a small FPS counter at the corner of the video. While in Call of Duty Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode, the game typically averaged around 80-90FPS if we’d take a simple guess into account. However, we also did notice that the game did max out at around 110 FPS throughout different ranges and also did for a while around the 60FPS mark.
Unlike the Battlefield V’s “stuttery” gameplay, Black Ops 4 turned out to run very well with Nvidia’s new RTX cards it seems. Surely EA has a bit more time to polish Battlefield V and would certainly be interesting to see how well EA works on optimizing Battlefield V for Nvidia’s new series of RTX cards when it launches next month.
There’s a ton of hype surrounding the future of ray-tracing. In fact, DICE’s multiplayer producer believes that ray-tracing would become standard within the next two to three years. With it’s realistic lighting effects, ray-tracing has brought massive improvements to overall graphics that we had never seen prior. Sure, the technology has been around for a while, but it seems like Nvidia would be taking the lead here as AMD prepared to catch up.
Certainly, the RTX 2080 Ti is a major upgrade over the 1080 Ti and it’s impressive to see how the improvements stack up. Sure, the upgrade isn’t as massive as it was with Maxwell to Pascal, but it’s nice to see that Nvidia has made 4K gaming a medium now that’s worth approaching.
