OnePlus 6T Keynote Shifted To The 29th – OnePlus Is Furious

OnePlus is about to launch the OnePlus 6T later this week. Soon after announcing the OnePlus 6T keynote date, Apple announced that they are holding a keynote as well on October the 30th. The irony is that Apple actually scheduled their announcement an hour before the OnePlus event. Soon after Apple announced the keynote, OnePlus’s Pete Lau has just come out with some saddening words and updates regarding the OnePlus 6T keynote now scheduled for October the 29th.

OnePlus’s Pete Lau said that he got in contact with a number of press contacts and noticed that Apple’s event would definitely overshadow OnePlus’s event by a mile. Given that Apple had their event scheduled an hour before OnePlus’s event meant that Apple’s event would have been the priority. In a statement he said:

A lot has changed in the past 24 hours. When we announced the launch of the OnePlus 6T on October 8, we were convinced our timing would allow us to maximize the amount of people we could reach with our message. That changed when Apple announced they would be hosting their own event on October 30. We know the entire industry and all media will be holding their breath. So, imagine how we felt when we learned the date of their latest event. One minute, we were preparing for our greatest and most exciting launch event yet. The next, we were posed with a difficult question: “What do we do now?”

In any pursuit, you can only play the cards you are dealt. We were dealt a pretty bad hand. Our challenge was to find a way to make the most of a bad situation. For months on end, hundreds of people have poured their hearts and souls into creating our best product to date. Our goal is to make sure it gets the time and attention it deserves.

We couldn’t make this decision on our own. For hours, we talked to our press contacts to gain insight into how Apple’s announcement could affect the launch of the OnePlus 6T. We received considered, honest and thoughtful feedback. They showed us that if we chose to stick to our original timeline, launching the OnePlus 6T on October 30, we would be overshadowed by Apple.

OnePlus’s Pete Lau also noted that a lot of its intended attendees would be forced to reschedule their plans accordingly too. For those who got their tickets, Pete Lau has gone as far to cushion any costs associated with rescheduling the event, especially for those who would be visiting from the rest of the world.

Now that OnePlus would be covering all of the costs, we’d bet that a lot of users would be comfortable attending the event in New York and India.

There’s a ton to expect from OnePlus this month and it seems like this event may be a major event for OnePlus’s history so far. Not only is OnePlus said to axe the headphone jack on the OnePlus 6T, but the folks over at OnePlus has also assured that the OnePlus 6T would feature an under display fingerprint sensor along with a dew-drop notch for those who want to maximize their viewing area.
