Xiaomi Officially Unveils The Black Shark 2 HELO – Features 10GB RAM & RGB Sides

Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Black Shark 2. At a keynote held a while ago, Xiaomi has succeeded the original Black Shark with the Black Shark 2. As killer it sounds, the new Black Shark 2 definitely seems to be a killer contender.

The Black Shark 2 is the first device to feature 10GB RAM rather than the Mi MiX 3 as we initially reported. As revealed in the keynote a while ago, the Black Shark 2 features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, comes with upto 10GB LPDDR4X RAM, upto 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, a 6.01-inch FHD+ HDR-enabled AMOLED display, dual front-facing speakers and as previously leaked, comes with RGB sides. Furthermore, the phone comes with a dual camera setup at the back, a much-improved HDR display and a much revamped liquid cooling.

Regarding the camera and charging details of the device, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 features a 4000mAh battery with support for QC3.0 and a 20MP + 12MP dual rear camera setup. However, just like the Pocophone, the Black Shark 2 records 4K at upto 30FPS only.

The phone has been confirmed the come in three variants and is currently available in China for pre-order. The three varaints are.

  • BlackShark 2 Helo – 6GB/128GB
  • BlackShark 2 Helo – 8GB/128GB
  • BlackShark 2 Helo – 10GB/256GB

Being a gaming-oriented device, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 comes with its own set of accessories out of the box to get yourself on top of the game. Depending on the specs, you may get either a single controller or a dual controllers out of the box, with the dual controller setup being an exclusive setup for the 10GB variant. With the first two variants, Xiaomi has decided to bundle a left-hand controller inside of the box. However, if you’re really planning to up your game, the 10GB variant not only comes with an upsize in storage, but also comes with a second controller for your right hand.

Companies such as Huawei, Asus and Xiaomi have been taking a ton of interested in the mobile gaming market and with this launch, Xiaomi’s continuing to move the needle forward. However, we’re shocked to see Xiaomi announce the successor to the original Black Shark already given that they sport a similar internal spec sheet. While predicting is simply anyone’s guess, the introduction of the Black Shark 2 could mean that Xiaomi is feeling the heat from Razer.

As crazy it sounds, Xiaomi’s betting a ton lot with the Black Shark 2 as Xiaomi has improved the liquid cooling capabilities of the Black Shark 2. Xiaomi claims that thanks to the larger surface area shared by two vapor-chamber liquid cooling pipes, Xiaomi is able to drop CPU temps by 12°C on the Black Shark 2.

Regarding pricing and availability, the device is exclusively available in China for now and is currently open for pre-orders. The base variant of the Black Shark 2 starts at ¥3199 ($459). While the upsized 8GB variant is available from just ¥3499.00 ($499). Regarding the 10GB varaint, we were unable to find any information regarding the pricing of the 10GB variant.
