Qualcomm is expected to release their next generation 7nm processor for next-generation smartphones and it has everyone exhilarated. The chip is expected to make its way into the hands of consumers with the release of the Galaxy S10 next year. According to folks over at Pcpop, Qualcomm will showcase its latest processor dubbed as the Snapdragon 8150 at a technology summit held in the first week of December. The Xiaolong Technology Summit is themed to bring out a new generation of processors all built to support 5G technology. With the new processor, Qualcomm has decided to ditch the older naming format and opted for 4-digit one.
The Summit will be held in Huawei starting from December 4th and we are pretty sure that Qualcomm will unveil their latest processor there. The Snapdragon 8150 will consist of 2 very high-performance cores, 2 high-performance cores and 4 high-efficiency cores. The architecture of the chip is very similar to that of Huawei’s Kirin 980 but leaked benchmarks show that the 8150 outperforms the Kirin 980. The Snapdragon 8150 will not only provide better AI capabilities but will also allow manufacturers to provide 5G technology to consumers.
Chinese smartphone brands out of all have been dominating the international markets lately but if Samsung rolls out the S10 early next year then they may capture the market quite easily. Verizon out of all has been most eminent with successfully testing the first 5G video call using a Moto Z3. It is certain that the US consumer markets are ready for 5G and whoever delivers first will get the top spot surely.
Moreover, the chip itself will set the standard for Smartphones released in the upcoming year which will further boost the spread of 5G technology worldwide. The Pocophone F1 had the standard Snapdragon 845 hence we can expect the 8150 to be the next stop for the next Pocophone. Furthermore, Xiaomi plans on spreading its market in Europe with the 5G Mi MiX 3 version which will be the brand’s first 5G device based on a completely new footprint.
