During their trip to visit the gravesite of the Hardesty family’s grandpa, a group of young hippies picked up a suspicious hitchhiker and accidentally brought terror into their lives. A family of hitchhikers, including the now-famous Leatherface, their chainsaw-wielding sibling is all in to claim their life. The cult classic, “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” spawned eight sequels, graphic novels, and a computer game based on the classic film.
Now, there’s a new film in talks and here’s everything we know about it.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre Premiere Date
Netflix will premiere “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” on February 18, 2022. Following the direct-to-DirectTV release of the prequel “Leatherface,” this will be the first direct-to-streaming title for the series.
What is Texas Chainsaw Massacre Plot
“I think the first movie really hit a nerve when portraying that culture clash between the countryside and the city. Back in the ’70s, the hippies were representing the youth of the city. This time, they’re more like millennial hipsters from Austin who are very entrepreneurial and have a dream of getting away from the city and back to the countryside. They’re trying to gentrify small-town America — and let’s just say they encounter some pushback.”
Melody’s teenage sister Lila, and their pals Dante and Ruth come to the country village of Harlow, Texas to open a new barbershop. Leatherface, the notorious serial killer whose terrible history continues to terrify the local community, happens to be in the area at the time of their new enterprise. Sally Hardesty, the only survivor of his previous slaughter, is one of these residents, and she is now on the hunt for the killer who murdered her sibling and her friends.
Leatherface, on the other hand, has been attempting to be a nice person while living off the radar. When Leatherface was a child, he was forced to perform actions against his will at the hands of his cruel parents. His neurodivergence, which makes him prone to his family’s malign influence, is broadly acknowledged. Once again he and Sally will come face-to-face.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cast
Mark Burnham, best known for his work in “Wrong Cops,” “Ultrasound,” and “Lowlife,” will portray Leatherface. There will also be appearances by Olwen Fouéré, Jacob Latimore, Elsie Fisher, Moe Dunford, Sam Douglas, Nell Hudson, and Jessica Allain in the upcoming “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” movie.
The upcoming movie will be helmed by David Blue Garcia and produced by ‘Don’t Breathe’ alum Fede Álvarez.
“We wanted to come up with a very simple premise [with] a powerful domino effect,” he said. “Everything is set up in the right place — all you have to do is push the first domino and everything will happen effortlessly.”
