BlackBerry’s Fall from Grace: The 5G BlackBerry That Fell Apart as its OEM “Died”.

BlackBerry is once again back in the game! The company has just unveiled its newest innovation, the 5G BlackBerry device. The phone had many high-profile reporters and consumers praising it for its sleek design and camera capabilities. However, the handset was heavily criticized for its price point at $999 which is double from when it was first announced. Critics have been quick to point out that this will be the last nail in BlackBerry’s coffin as a company because it will be too much of a burden for their OEM “to die” system.

This article will explore what happened to BlackBerry and why they are back in the market with a new flagship product that could potentially set them up for success in the future.

According to the creator of a relevant community, all surviving BlackBerry lovers’ expectations for a new smartphone under this moniker are officially gone. According to CrackBerry’s Kevin Michaluk, Onward Mobility, the business that touted this upgraded, 5G- and physical keyboard-enabled smartphone multiple times, has suddenly discontinued operations.

After TCL formally discontinued the same line of business in 2020, Onward Mobility came in to take up the rights to manufacture new phones under one of the world’s most recognized legacy mobile device brands. Since then, the company has promised to release the world’s first 5G BlackBerry.

However, the business then continued to put the phone’s launch date back not once, but several times, as seen by the “waitlist,” which appeared to be more of a poll of customer interest. This may have been explained by pandemic circumstances, but it now appears that the individuals behind Onward Mobility have just given up on meeting its latest fictional date.

Kevin Michaluk of CrackBerry claims to have predicted the 5G BlackBerry’s demise. The fan-creator site claims to have heard from “several sources” that the firm, like so many other start-ups in this atmosphere, has ceased operations as of yesterday (February 11, 2022).

As a result, while Michaluk is “certain the folks responsible set out with good intentions and put forth some meaningful effort,” they just “were unable to execute” plans to release the BlackBerry that the 2020s could truly desire.

What happened to BlackBerry?

BlackBerry was once a world leader in the smartphone industry. They were one of the first companies to introduce a touchscreen phone to the public. As time went on, BlackBerry became less and less popular because their devices weren’t as innovative as other brands like Apple or Samsung’s offerings. They also lacked many of the features that were standard on other smartphones and often had more bugs than operating systems.

Despite their popularity in the past, BlackBerry had to start over with an entirely new business model. They started developing software for other companies and gave up on making hardware altogether. They made $660 million off of these software sales which helped them stay afloat during this rough period in their company’s history

BlackBerry’s Last Hope?

Since the release of the first iPhone, BlackBerry has been steadily declining at a rapid rate. It’s no secret that BlackBerry was slow to keep up with other technology companies like Apple and Samsung. They weren’t releasing new products as often as their competitors and they were stuck in the past.

However, that all changed when they released their first flagship phone in years; the 5G BlackBerry device. The smartphone had many high-profile reporters and consumers praising it for its sleek design and camera capabilities. However, the handset was heavily criticized for its hefty price point at $999 which is double from when it was first announced.

Critics have been quick to point out that this will be the last nail in BlackBerry’s coffin as a company because it will be too much of a burden for their OEM “to die” system.
