GameStop’s Chairman, Ryan Cohen led a buying spree in pre-market trading as he purchased around 100 thousand shares of Game Stop Corp. Class A Report (GME). The stock eventually rose higher than expected after news broke that an investment group had bought their low cash balance holdings from them at above market price!
The Securities and Exchange Commission filings late Tuesday showed that RC Ventures LLC, which has also built stakes in Bed Bath & Beyond- Get BBY stock report now owns around 9 million GameStop shares representing an 11%.
The overall percentage for their investment sits at about 12%.
In a move that could pave the way for an outright sale of Chewy.com, RC Ventures’ 10% stake in this home furnishings retailer has been pushed by former CEO Andrew Jassy who favors narrowing their focus and considering only retaining shares currently held within UnionNH Incorporated
A bolded section Hoover’s piece reads: “With such high expectations from investors”, it will be interesting to see how they go about meeting those targets without expanding too much outside New England–where both companies are headquartered.”
The stock has been heavily shorted, with data from S3 Partners showing just under $1.2 billion in bets against the group which represents around 12 million shares or 20%.
In a surprise to many, GameStop reported an unexpected loss last week of $1.86 per share for its fiscal fourth quarter and managed negative free cash flow despite revenues rising 6% from the year before – proving once again that there’s no such thing as pure success without pain!
The company has been tight-lipped about its new strategy, but it seems like they are doing well. They have only released limited information on customer trends and balance sheet developments so far since putting in place a management team led by Cohen

GameStop is planning to launch a marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) related specifically to video games. They have partnered up last month and expect it by this coming fiscal quarter, which would mean sometime between July 2020 – September 2021
The company recently announced they will be developing these markets after partnering on blockchain technology via ImmutableX Australia earlier last year already making history as one of their first projects together since 2017 when both were founded!
