Gwyneth Paltrow’s Former Chief Content Officer Elise Loehnen Claims That Doing Goop Cleanses ‘distorted’ Her Body Image

When Gwyneth Paltrow left her post as second-in-command at Goop, she took with her one of the company’s most famous slogans – “beauty is in your hands.” But while many might have thought that meant you were supposed to be doing everything possible for this body image dream come true (including applying lotion everywhere), Elise soon realized differently.

In an interview about how working on redefining herself has changed since leaving Goops voxbox, Elise says there are some things we can never control no matter what path life takes us

When Loehnen left Goop in 2020 to write a book and start her podcast, she decided not only that cleanses were too much work but also any kind of dietary restrictions. After all the time spent trying different ones for years on end with Paltrow being such an avid consumer (and fan) it made sense—in 2017 alone there are five different Gwyneth-approved programs at this wellness brand’s headquarters just outside Los Angeles!

I found myself in an unhealthy relationship with my body where I was always trying to punish it and control its size. That is until one day when everything changed!

“To me, dieting had become synonymous with being controlled by others,” says Loehnen explaining that she felt like this because often people would tell her what they wanted from their appearance instead of focusing on healthy living habits such as eating well or exercising regularly.”

She’s never felt better than when she was eating healthier and taking care of herself.

When Loehnen realized that her body was changing and not just because of age, she felt “pain” in the form of shame. The author details how this pain motivated them to stop weighing themselves completely which later led to healthier living habits like eating better foods with less processed sugars or taking care more deeply about what kind of clothes were worn each day- all while feeling grateful for everything one has been given even if it’s not perfect

I did something none other than myself

Goop and Loehnen have issued a joint statement in response to the recent criticism over their products. They say they are taking it all “very seriously,” but remain confident that people will see this as an opportunity for them to learn about new wellness trends and make useful suggestions moving forward!

Loehnen said, “After two years of eating freely I’ve realized that too much can be problematic.”

When I talked with my friend @ellenvoramd on Pulling the Thread recently, we explored diet and she reminded me that wellness culture can be toxic. Eating an abundance of overly processed foods also might not be healthy for you—even if it’s what society tells us is “normal.” And in those moments where eating habits don’t agree with your body as much as they disagree two years into this new life journey called motherhood–it becomes clear: We’ve kind of been deserted by our stomachs (which sometimes hurt) because we didn’t listen to them enough until now…

Boehner’s new perspective on cleansing led to a more rational approach. She tried the juice and broths, but realized that she needed something else as well- vegetables or proteins can be added in for variety! With these additions, this diet is perfect not only during Detox Days (because let’s face it: who doesn’t want their body cleaning itself?) But also if you’re looking at starting an intermittent fasting protocol because they provide enough food without having too much weight loss pressure which some people find daunting when going off track from traditional diets like keto/low carb plans

I decided to go wholeheartedly in the direction of my new lifestyle. I didn’t weigh myself before, during, or after and instead focused on eating more vegetables than ever while still indulging with protein sources at will—it felt great! What’s more exciting is how well it worked out not having any cravings for bad foods immediately following implementing this change which has made all aspects much easier including mental clarity as seen through increased energy levels daily

For Loehnen, trying new things has always come with an element of risk. But this time around she’s learned how to balance it by not making restrictions about what can and cannot be eaten during her cleanses – instead of focusing more on finding foods that are healthy but still taste good!

She’s been able to break the cycle of self-punishment by simply not engaging in it. Instead, she has found joy and gratitude with herself despite all that her body seems programmed for – punishment!

The more I look at my creation; The less room there is inside myself leftover after looking upon these lines on paper or images projected onto screens–the epiphany came crashing down around me like an explosion going off next door…I don’t deserve this world any more than anyone else does but here we are nonetheless alive & kicking (and starving)
