What Apple’s iPhone announcement track record informs us about the release date of the iPhone 14.
We already know a lot about the iPhone 14 before its official release later this year. However, when will the iPhone 14 be available? However, based on prior launches, we may construct a chronology even if no specific leaks have occurred.
iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro leaks have so far centred on specifications. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro might get a 48MP primary camera instead of the notch’s trademark cuts on the iPhone XS Max and XS Max Plus.
The iPhone 14 Mini, which has been in production for the past two years, is expected to be replaced by the iPhone 14 Max, which has a 6.7-inch screen.
Despite the fact that they aren’t official, the facts appear to be solid. Most Apple observers are speculating about a fall debut date for the iPhone 14, although no official announcement has been made. Because Apple generally unveils its new devices in September, more adventurous predictions will speculate about a September release date.
We don’t have to wait for rumors about the iPhone 14’s release date to circulate before we can make reasonable assumptions about when it could be available.
While Apple tends to keep a lot of information under wraps, the company does have a pattern of behaviour that makes pinpointing a certain date rather simple, even before rumours confirm if we’re on the right track.
Taking a look at Apple’s prior iPhone releases, as well as other factors that might affect the iPhone 14’s release date, we’ve come up with a timeline for the iPhone 14.
When have the prior iPhones gone on sale?
Apple’s recent past offers some hints as to what and when could be coming from Cupertino in the future. As a reminder, these are the dates and times for Apple’s most recent 8 iPhone announcements.

You don’t have to be an expert in pattern recognition to see the trend in that graphic. Every year since 2014, Apple has unveiled their iPhones during the month of September, save for one year. As a rule of thumb, the announcement is made within the first two weeks of September.
2020 is the only year in which this isn’t the case. As you may recall, the first year of the coronavirus epidemic halted a great deal of production, including the iPhone. Since then the iPhone 12 announcement event has been postponed to October 13th.
The iPhone 12 announcement has a few other surprises up its sleeve. The introduction of Apple’s new models had to be staggered as well. In contrast to the release of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, the iPhone 12 small and the iPhone 12 Pro Max were delayed until November.
As it turns out, this was Apple’s third time releasing a new iPhone at different times. In 2019, the iPhone XR debuted a month after the iPhone XS and XS Max, whereas the iPhone X wasn’t released until early November of last year, over six weeks after the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
In 2021, all four iPhone 13 models were released simultaneously (though there were supply issues, particularly for the iPhone 13 Pro models through the holiday shopping season). Let’s presume that Apple prefers a single launch date for all iPhone models unless the company or rumour mongers advise otherwise.
You may see a pattern in the graph once more. It is typical for Apple to debut their phones 10 to 11 days after announcing them to the public. You’d anticipate the iPhone 14 to follow the same trend as the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, despite the fact that there are deviations.
According to our predictions, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 14 in September.
We’re left to rely on Apple’s prior performance in the lack of any concrete release date speculations for the iPhone 14. According to past events, Apple will unveil the iPhone 14 models in the first two weeks of September 2022.
The fact that Apple chooses to conduct its news conferences on Tuesdays is also useful information. The first Tuesday in September — September 6 this year — occurs directly after the United States’ Labor Day vacation, making an early September launch ceremony all the more important.
That throws out September 6 as a potential date for Apple’s iPhone 14 unveiling, since the company avoids three-day weekends whenever possible.
That leaves one day for the iPhone 14 to be unveiled if you accept the following assumptions: 1) Apple holds their iPhone events in early September; 2) Apple prefers Tuesdays when it comes to holding product events; and 3) Apple won’t do anything straight after Labor Day.
The iPhone 14 is likely to be shown on September 13th. If Apple follows its past practise of releasing the phone around ten days later, that puts the projected release date of September 22 for the iPhone 14 as the day the new models enter shelves.
We want to be clear: That date is unofficial, and it might shift if new details about Apple’s iPhone intentions emerge. In the meanwhile, September 13 is a terrific date to be aware of what’s happening in Cupertino, California.
Release date of the iPhone 14: Potential hiccups
However, even if additional leaks confirm or deny our predictions for the release date of the iPhone 14, nothing is set in stone. Even if the iPhone 14 debut may be delayed, one issue in particular should be on the radar of everyone’s attention.
It’s not done yet, despite the relaxation of mask requirements and other Covid-19 measures. Cases might spike again. Observe China, where entire cities have been put on lockdown as the number of Covid-19 cases rises. Being made in China, this has a particular bearing on Apple’s iPhone 14 ambitions.
Foxconn’s iPhone 14 manufacturing facilities in Zhengzhou, China, were briefly shut down earlier this month, increasing fears of production delays. However, Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant appears to be working normally according to recent reports. Even so, the iPhone 14’s launch date might be impacted by a variety of factors.
