The last 12 episodes of Grace And Frankie will be released on Netflix on April 29th, following a four-episode premiere last year. The main heroines, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin learned that their partners Robert and Sol (Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston) were abandoning them for one another in the latest trailer.
Over the course of 7 seasons, the unusual friends have grown into business partners developing senior products, negotiated their new familial relationships, and begun dating again as septuagenarians.
The teaser takes a look back at a few of the show’s highlights, featuring past guest appearances Ernie Hudson and Peter Gallagher, before plunging into fresh material.
Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, both Oscar winners, executive produce and appear in the series as Ménage à Moi sex toy CEOs Grace Hanson Skolka and Frances ‘Frankie’ Bergstein.
In the contemplative two-minute clip, Grace tells Frankie, ‘It was a crazy ride with you.’
‘However, I’d rather go on a wild ride with you than with anyone else.’
This season, the Malibu roommates, whose spouses abandoned them to marry each other, are seeing a therapist played by Beth Grant from Dollface.
‘You’ll want to investigate her rage issues.’ Frankie suggests, “I’ll send you my file.”
‘I’ve wasted too much time catering to the guys in my life,’ Grace says of her second husband, Omni Tech owner-turned-tax evader Nick Skolka (Peter Gallagher).
‘The reality is one of us is going to lose the other,’ the retired cosmetics magnate tells the quirky artist at one point.
‘Unless we do a Thelma and Louise thing, which I’m open to,’ Frankie said, referring to the suicidal finale of Ridley Scott’s 1991 film starring Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon.
Grace simply answered, ‘Pass.’
As series regulars, Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, June Diane Raphael, and Baron Vaughn return.
Millicent Martin, Peter Cambor, Michael Charles Roman, Lindsey Kraft, and Niccole Thurman will all reprise their roles from the previous seasons.
With its premiere in 2015, Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris’ critically acclaimed, 13-time Emmy-nominated program became the longest-running original series on Netflix.
‘We’re not done yet,’ Grace exclaims, ‘and the best is yet to come.’
Despite not appearing in the trailer, Netflix confirmed on November 5 that the 84-year-old acting veteran and the 82-year-old comedy icon’s 9 to 5 co-star Dolly Parton would return in the seventh season.
‘When Covid is finished! For years, I’ve been attempting to do Grace and Frankie. The 76-year-old national treasure told Lorraine last year, On 9 to 5, we worked so well together.
‘It’s a bizarre, amazing show, and we’ve been trying to work me into it in some way.’ So, when it’s safe to conduct a production, I’ll most likely do it.’
It’s been 42 years since Colin Higgins’ highly acclaimed office comedy, which grossed $103.3 million worldwide, saw the gifted trio exact revenge on their chauvinist employer (Dabney Coleman).
