When it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Samuel L Jackson and his portrayal of Nick Fury are right up there with Robert Downey Jr. and the rest of the original Avengers cast members in terms of being associated with the series. Jackson has been portraying director Nick Fury for 14 years and has made 11 appearances, yet he still enjoys the role.
Jackson’s Fury made his initial appearance in the MCU’s inception film, 2008’s Iron Man, when he emerged in a post-credit scene to inform the titular hero of the Avengers Initiative. Since then, we’ve seen him coordinate missions on a worldwide scale, saw him fake his own death a few times, and even witness him travel into space.
But, for a variety of reasons, Jackson says he still appreciates his work in the MCU. Not least because he enjoys comic books and thinks it’s cool to see himself playing such a well-known character. However, Jackson also discusses the cultural impact of comic book films.
“He’s a guy with no superpowers who is in control of superpowered individuals, and they let him be.” In a recent interview with Collider, Jackson said, “There’s something remarkable about him.” “In another way, he’s a leader of men who are extremely different,” the actor remarked.
“It feels great to be a part of a world that I’ve adored since I was a child.” I continue to purchase comic books. I still frequent comic book shops. Jackson admits, “I still read them.” In another way, being a member of a cultural canon that people revere and respect implies something,” he concluded.
As Marvel enters Phase 4, Samuel L Jackson has a lot more to look forward to, including cameos in the new TV series Secret Invasion, which will be available on Disney Plus, and a possible cameo in the next Ant-Man film.
