The First Force Ghost: Qui-gon Jinn’s Rise to Power, Release Date Confirmed? All Things

Some believe that in a galaxy far, far away, no one ever truly dies, so how does the most powerful and essential Jedi survive death?

A lot of Star Wars knowledge is being kept hidden to preserve the all-important sense of wonder in that magical world. The strange side effect of those editorial judgments is that things occasionally happen with little to no explanation, and fans are left to grin and nod.

The majority of fans remember that in his final moments, Obi-Wan Kenobi laid down his blade and let his former student defeat him in battle. Obi-Wan disappears for a while before making a comeback after promising to grow even stronger. After the movie, viewers got to see Obi-Wan return as a blue-tinted spirit along with his fellow mentor, Yoda, and the person who killed him.

The hazy energy field known as “The Force” binds all living things together. Every child in the galaxy who has a supernatural connection to that energy is wanted by the Jedi Order, who then trains them according to their standards. The Sith, who are the Jedi’s ancestors’ foes, are the main users of the Force in contrast to the Jedi. The superhuman abilities that a strong connection to the Force can bestow are not entirely monopolized by them, despite their best efforts. Individual Jedi made it their duty to learn those skills as well, as others discovered new methods and variations of the Force’s tremendous strength.

One of the first Jedi to research the potential for eternal life within the Force was Obi-teacher Wan’s Qui-Gon Jinn. Due to his unconventional approaches and contempt for authority, Qui-Gon was frequently viewed as a maverick Jedi. Years were spent by the strong rogue master away from the Council studying the wisdom of other Force-wise beings.

Before he started instructing Obi-Wan, he had at some point during his travels studied under the Shaman of the Whills. Only a few online Star Wars franchise materials discuss this enigmatic character. His genesis can be found in George Lucas’s infamous initial script for the Star Wars prequels, which was largely discarded between projects. Somehow still canon, The Shaman of the Whills.

Before completing his training in eternal life, Qui-Gon was assassinated by Darth Maul. Because of this, he didn’t manifest as the complete Force ghost that fans are familiar with for a while, only speaking in his head. The Force ghost theory was more successfully pursued by Master Yoda, in contrast.

Yoda set out on a spiritual quest that took him to some of the most significant planets in the galaxy and gave him a lot of insight into the ways of the Force. Yoda was taught by Qui-wisdom, Gon’s Shaman’s but he also discovered his instructor in the five Force Priestesses, a group of five strange women. Sixth-season episodes of The Clone Wars cartoon series feature two scenes of these formidable monsters. Jinn may have also found his path, according to certain indications.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is said to have picked up parts of Yoda and Qui-teachings Gon’s secondhand, however, it is never explicitly shown on screen. Obi-Wan acquired sufficient knowledge to employ the technique from his two Jedi Masters, despite never seeking out the Shaman or the priestesses. Even when they are clear, the guidelines for this technique are hazy. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that Qui-Gon, who didn’t learn the skill himself, could teach it to Yoda, who did so effortlessly. That Obi-Wan could learn everything he required from re-taught lessons makes even less sense. But the fact that Obi-Padawan Wan also appears to be using this power begs some serious issues.

None of Anakin Skywalker’s professors seems to have taught him anything about eternal life. The Sith don’t appear to have something quite as powerful as the Force ghost system, despite Palpatine’s claims that he can stop death. But after giving his life to save his son, Anakin reappears alongside some of his old comrades to say goodbye to Luke from beyond the dead.

The lesson that may be learned from Anakin’s example and the examples of his line of teachers is that the Force ghost technique is more of a morality test than a competence test. It doesn’t appear like maintaining one’s identity after one’s body has died is comparable to employing telekinesis or firing lightning. It appears to call for complete selflessness and willing self-sacrifice.
