Characters for the First Avatar: the Last Airbender Animated Film Are Revealed by Nickelodeon

The first information on the upcoming untitled animated movie from Avatar Studios, which will be the first animated picture based on the world of the well-liked series Avatar: The Last Airbender, has finally been made public by Nickelodeon and Paramount Animation.

Officially, the third season finale of the original series and the first Avatar movie will take place several years apart. It will once more be centered on Aang and his companions, who are coming back as teenagers. Since The Last Airbender’s epic ending in 2008, fans haven’t seen the entire Team Avatar together in more than a decade, despite a few flashbacks in Avatar: The Legend of Korra giving us glimpses of them as adults.

Three animated features, each having a stand-alone story set in the world of the anime series, are currently being created by Avatar Studios. Lauren Montgomery will helm the first movie. In addition to Eric Coleman, Avatar Studios co-founders Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are producing the movie.

The universe in the series is divided into four nations: the Air Nomads, the Fire Nation, the Earth Kingdom, and the Water Tribe, each of which is symbolised by a different natural element. Benders are capable of controlling and influencing the elements in their country. The master of each of the four elements is the Avatar alone. The brutal Fire Nation intends to rule the entire planet, but the Avatar—the only bender with the strength to do so—has vanished up until this point. Aang must now be protected by Katara and Sokka as he travels to master all four elements and defend the world from the Fire Nation.

From February 2005 through July 2008, Nickelodeon aired the first three seasons of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Throughout its career, it won numerous Annie Awards, Genesis Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and a Peabody Award. It also got widespread praise.

Three animated Avatar movies are currently under production by Paramount and Nickelodeon. The first installment’s unnamed director, Lauren Montgomery (Avatar: The Last Airbender), was revealed last month. At the event for Avatar: Braving the Elements, the revisit podcast hosted by the franchise’s voice actors Janet Varney (Korra in The Legend of Korra) and Dante Basco, there was further information revealed about the first movie today at Comic-Con (Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender). Varney made the statement through a video that was being played in the room even though he wasn’t present in person.

In Avatar: The Last Airbender, a young child named Aang (Eisen) awoke in a world of elemental magic that was ripped apart and set out on a perilous mystic adventure to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar and bring about world peace. The Legend of Korra, a sequel that ran on Nickelodeon for four seasons between 2012 and 2014, was the network’s response to that immensely popular original series.

Since then, without Konietzko and DiMartino’s participation, a live-action movie from 2010 and a live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is in development at Netflix.
