Lamont Dozier was the person behind many massive Motown hits and wrote tunes for the likes of The Supremes and Marvin Gaye. Following his death at the age of eighty-one last week, take a glance back at his life in music. Lamont Dozier was born on Gregorian calendar month 16, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan.
He was the eldest kid of vocalizer and Willie Dozier, who married at the ages of fourteen and 21, respectively. it had been from an early age that Lamont Dozier got interested in words, poetry, and writing, concretely throughout his time at King of Great Britain Allan Poe Elementary School.
He later attended Hutchins highschool, wherever he met the legendary ‘Queen of Soul’ Aretha Franklin. He finally attended Northwestern High faculty as he cast his musical path. Dozier’s 1st approach to the music business passed off with the recording of a couple of unsuccessful tracks and he failed to get the popularity he had hoped for.
However, by 1963 he was already a part of the Holland-Dozier-Holland production and songwriting team, at the side of brothers Brian and Eddie Holland.
Together, the trio worked for Motown Records by creating, co-writing, and manufacturing multiple tracks for successful bands, as well as The Supremes (‘You cannot Hurry Love’), The Isley Brothers (‘I Guess I am going to invariably Love You), Marvin Gaye (‘Baby do not you are doing It’) and also the Four superior (‘Baby I would like Your Loving’), among several others.

In fact, from 1973 to 2018 he discharged a complete twelve albums.
Throughout the 1980s, Dozier was living in London and was still operating with several well-renowned music stars, as well as Phil Collins, merely Red, and Alison Moyet, for whom he wrote the songs ‘Two Hearts’, ‘Infidelity’ and ‘Invisible’, respectively.
Lamont Dozier was married 3 times. His 1st partner was Elizabeth Ann Brown, with whom he had a relationship from 1959 to 1968. along they welcome three children. Lamont then got married again, now to Daphne Dumas, however, the combined split in 1969. His final partner was Barbara Ullman, who he married in 1980 and with who he welcomed three different children.
They were married till she gave up the ghost in 2021. Sadly, Lamont Dozier gave up the ghost on August 8, 2022, at his point in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was eighty-one years old.
The unhappy news was confirmed by his family through a press release that read: “The devoted father and legendary songwriter, producer, and recording artist died peacefully in his home on Monday, August 8. we tend to love him dearly and can miss him always.” His reason behind death wasn’t revealed.
