Permadeath Mode in the Last of Us 2leaves Players Hilariously Unprepared for the End

The Last of Us 2’s compelling narrative and well-developed characters are its main draws, but for players who enjoy a challenge, the game can be very difficult. A Permadeath setting is offered in addition to the deadly Grounded mode, allowing players one life to complete The Last of Us 2. On the PS4, The Last of Us 2 is now accessible.

Several scenarios should come to mind while considering places in The Last of Us 2 where it’s simple to die. For those who are on permadeath, perilous situations include the boss battle between Abby and Ellie near the end of the game, Abby’s run-in with the Rat King, and any of the scenarios involving stalkers.

Even chance contacts with Seraphites can be dangerous, however, none of these more dangerous circumstances led to the demise of Reddit user ThePopcornDude. Instead, they perished after falling.

Although The Last of Us 2 has a lot of fall damage, there aren’t many situations where players can be killed by falling. One of the few places in The Last of Us 2 where players are at risk of dying from falling is the ambulance bridge in the open Seattle region near the beginning of Ellie’s journey, albeit this is not where ThePopcornDude perished.

Instead, they lost their lives in an area of this free-range zone that was supposed to be completely safe for them.

The funny video depicts the Redditor opening a safe, robbing the contents, and leaping over a railing to continue their exploration. Ellie enters the fall animation and splats onto the ground as if she had just leaped from a great height, but she ultimately dies as soon as she touches the ground. The Redditor’s permadeath streak came to an abrupt halt, even though this fall would undoubtedly not result in death and she should have landed on her feet.

Unsurprisingly, this Reddit thread has been popular, receiving close to 2,000 upvotes from followers who were amused. The top remark is made by ki700, who thinks it amusing that years later, people are still dying from the “quite safe-looking plunge.”

This commenter claims that they had the same death on their first playtime and were astounded that such a brief fall could be fatal. Some add that this is the reason they avoid playing in Permadeath mode, while others claim that Naughty Dog deliberately included this death place to trick gamers.

The Redditor is fortunate that this section appears relatively early in the game, even though it is true that this Permadeath run of The Last of Us 2 was ruined. Without including cutscenes, ThePopcornDude should be able to return to this safe fast since it is only a little over an hour of gameplay before it is encountered.
