The Winchesters, a “Supernatural” spin-off, has added Hollywood star Tom Welling to its ensemble. According to the entertainment publication Deadline, the parents of Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester will be the focus of the prequel series.
Before the eagerly anticipated Supernatural prequel, The Winchesters debuted, it was announced that Tom Welling, a former Superman, and Smallville actor, would be giving the program a super-powered fight. The actor’s surprising attendance on the show’s panel at New York Comic Con led to the revelation of Welling’s position in the series.
Sam and Dean’s grandfather and Mary’s (Meg Donnelly) father, Samuel Campbell, will be played by Welling. If you’re not acquainted, Samuel was portrayed by Mitch Pileggi in the first season of the show and it was revealed that Mary, not John Winchester (Drake Rodger), was the one who learned everything he knew about hunting ghouls and goblins. Mary hailed from a family of hunters. Due to his role as the young Clark Kent in Smallville, Welling is already well-known and adored by fans of The CW.
Meg Donnelly plays Mary Campbell in the series, which had its first episode aired on October 11. Drake Rodger plays John Winchester. In supporting parts, the cast also features Bianca Kajlich, Demetria McKinney, Nida Khurshid, and Jojo Fleites. The seventh episode will include Tom Welling’s series debut.
Jensen and Danneel Ackles, under their firm Chaos Machine Productions, serve as the showrunner and executive producers of The Winchesters, with Robbie Thompson serving as the showrunner.
The prequel series for Supernatural is a component of Ackles’ overall contract with WBTV. Welling’s appearance on The Winchesters is also his second on a current CW program; his subsequent appearance will be on the television drama Professionals. Additionally, the actor has agreed to take part in the action-thriller movie Deep Six.
The CW broadcasts The Winchesters every Tuesday.
