Directing and acting
In the 2019 Safdie brothers’ Netflix film Uncut Gems, Edit Fox made her acting debut as a showroom salesperson and mistress of the story’s protagonist Howard Ratner, played by Adam Sandler, an erratic jewelry dealer and gambler.
After meeting Josh Safdie by chance in a café in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, Fox had been acquainted with the Safdie brothers for almost ten years.
In the 2019 Gotham Awards, she was eventually nominated for Breakthrough Actor.
The 2021 short film Fantasy Girls, which Fox also wrote and directed, is about a gang of teenage girls who indulge in prostitution and reside in Reno, Nevada. The movie was made available to American audiences on February 5, 2021. She appeared in No Sudden Move, which was made available in the US on July 1, 2021.
She will play the lead part in the future drama Puppet, which is slated for release in 2022. Additionally, in the upcoming film Upper Cut, based on White’s book, Fox will play Hollywood hairstylist Carrie White.
Along with Vito Schnabel, who also writes, Steven Van Zandt, and Tony Kaye, Fox was slated to star in the March 2022 release of the dark comedy The Trainer.
Fox was born in Milan to an American father and an Italian mother. She resided with her grandfather for the first several years of her life. She claimed that although she and her family lived in a one-bedroom apartment in Italy, where life was rather quiet, she never felt like we were poor. Despite being deserted, the place was teeming with love and great food. When she was six years old, she and her father moved to Manhattan’s Yorkville and settled there.
She briefly returned to Italy at 14 years old for two years, but by that time she had become weary of the conflicting cultural contrasts. She worked in a variety of customer service roles, such as in a pastry shop, an ice cream shop, and a shoe store. Fox spent six months as a dominatrix while attending City-As-School High School.
