Recently Marc Bronco Clay Mendenhall coached at The University of Virginia. He is a football team coach and in the year 2015, he joined Virginia and resigned in the year 2021.

Mendenhall was born in Boulder, Colorado, and raised in Alpine, Utah. He played defensive back for BYU from 1987 to 1990. After graduating from BYU, he served as a graduate assistant on the school’s football coaching staff for two years before becoming a full-time assistant coach at Snow College in 1992.

Mendenhall then spent four years (1995–1998) as an assistant coach at Oregon State University before returning to BYU in 1999 as defensive coordinator. In his six seasons as defensive coordinator, Mendenhall’s defenses finished in the top 25 nationally five times and helped lead BYU to a share of the national championship in 2006.

In December 2008, Mendenhall was hired as BYU’s head football coach, succeeding Gary Crowton. In his eleven seasons as head coach, Mendenhall compiled a record of 99–43 (.697), including six seasons with ten or more wins and five bowl game victories.

Under Mendenhall, BYU won eleven conference championships (nine outright and two shared) and appeared in nine bowl games (winning five). His teams also finished ranked in the AP Poll seven times (peaking at #7 in 2009.

Mendenhall is a highly respected coach, known for his dedication to his players and his teams. In his career, he won many awards and was able to win the Coach of the Year awards from ESPN and the Associated Press. Coach Mendenhall’s impact on the game of football is evident in both his success on the field and his work with young people off the field.

He is a role model for coaches and players, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who know him best.

He stepped down after the 2021 season. Mendenhall is known for his focus on developing players both on and off the field and has been praised for his ability to connect with his players. During his time at BYU, Mendenhall led the team to nine bowl games, including a victory in the 2006 Fiesta Bowl.

Under Mendenhall’s leadership, Virginia won its first Coastal Division title in 2019 and made appearances in three consecutive bowl games. In 2020, Mendenhall was named the ACC Coach of the Year after leading Virginia to an 8-4 record. When he resigned from Virginia.
