How to set Wordle up on an Android device

How to use Wordle within The New York Times Crossword app

Please be aware that in order to transfer your results, you will need a New York Times account. On the other hand, if you’d rather play Wordle on your device without creating an account, we suggest sticking with the progressive web app. Wordle is accessible without requiring a premium subscription and requires no registration for The New York Times.

2. On the homepage, tap Wordle, then Play.

3. Alternately, you can create a New York Times account to avoid losing your progress when playing on multiple devices.

Customizing your Wordle settings

You will have a few options to experiment with, which could improve your Wordle experience as a whole. Before entering Wordle, color-blind players and dark-mode app users will want to immediately enable these options.

1. Tap the gear icon in the top right corner to access your settings.
2.  Some options will be displayed in a menu: High Contrast Mode, Hard Mode, and Dark Theme Mode.

3. Tap the slider until it is highlighted green or orange (for high contrast mode) to activate any of these options.

How to play Wordle

1. Open the shortcut for the Wordle web app on your home screen.
2. The ruleset box for Wordle appears. Close the ruleset box to access the gameplay after reviewing the rules.
3. A 5 x 6 grid that is unfilled is shown. Starting at the top, you’ll enter your word in each row. The row after that is where new attempts begin.
4. Tap Enter after entering any common five-letter word using your keyboard. The keys on your keyboard that correspond to each letter in your word are highlighted in green, yellow, and gray.
5. To guess additional 5-letter words, use these clues. While avoiding any gray letters, keep the green letters where they are and move the yellow letters to new locations before they turn green. You can only guess six times.
6. Green highlights cover the entire row if you correctly guess the word. When you are finished, the word “impressive” will appear. You did it! You solved the daily puzzle!
   Since a new puzzle is added each day, you must wait for the daily reset to play more puzzles. The reset timer and a box that keeps track of your stats appear on the screen once you start a streak.
