The sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed drama series Snowfall will premiere on FX on February 22, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. It will also be available for streaming internationally on Hulu and Disney+ under the Star banner the following day. Before airing new episodes on a weekly basis, the season will begin with a two-episode premiere.
Snowfall, which made its debut in 2017 and is set in Los Angeles in the 1980s, follows the stories of several characters as their distinct narratives interact and become intertwined during the crack-cocaine epidemic brought on by an illegal CIA operation.
As drug kingpin Frank Saint (Damson Idris) finds himself in a seemingly inescapable situation with many government units ready to take him down, including the DEA, CIA, and even the KGB, the sixth season sees a “civil war” set to tear the Saint family apart. Everything he has constructed is now in danger of falling apart. “When everyone has their backs against the wall, who will they become in order to survive?” is the official title of the upcoming series.
In the middle of the fifth season, in April 2022, Snowfall was renewed for its sixth and final season. The show’s compelling plot and dynamic characters drew praise from both viewers and critics. The final season will continue with the same five episodes as the previous seasons.
Nick Grad, President of Original Programming at FX, spoke about how exciting it is to give the team a chance to finish their story and “bring Snowfall to a climactic finale showcasing the brilliance of everyone involved, from the stellar cast led by Damson Idris, to the writers, directors, artists, and crew” during the announcement of the new season renewal.
The Cast and Crew Behind Snowfall
Along with Eric Amadio and Dave Andron, the series was created by the late, great director John Singleton (Boyz N the Hood). Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Michael Hyatt, Amin Joseph, Alon Aboutboul, Carter Hudson, Kevin Carroll, Angela Lewis, and Isaiah John round out the cast of the series. Singleton, Andron, Amadio, Thomas Schlamme, Michael London, Trevor Engelson, Walter Mosley, Julie DeJoie, and John LaBrucherie are the executive producers of the show, and Idris is also the producer. Andron is the series’ showrunner in addition to being a creator.
