Rocky Aoki has been born on October 9, 1938, to Yunosuke and Katsu in Tokyo, Japan under the name Hiroaki Aoki. He and several buddies started a rock group called Rowdy Sounds when he was young, but eventually decided against music in favor of a career in sports. Aoki continued his athletic career at Keio University, wherein he participated in track and field, wrestling, and karate.
He was ultimately ejected, nevertheless, for engaging in combat. Aoki was a qualified wrestler there at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome but opted not to participate.
