Ubisoft Announces Star Trek: Bridge Crew – Four Player co-op VR Game
Today, Ubisoft announced a new game called Star Trek: Bridge Crew. This Star Trek game is set in the universe of the Star Trek movies. The game is VR-based. The gameplay includes four players (Captain, Tactical, Engineer, Helm) in co-op style. Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be shown off at Ubisoft’s conference at E3 2016, 2 days later, on 14 June.
Star Trek: Bridge Crew will be the first ever VR-based game developed by Red Storm Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. The player will be in a space ship, called Aegis. The user can be the captain, or choose the other three classes which are tactical, engineer and helm.
The game will utilize all the features of a VR headset and it will mimic the player’s movements in real-life in the game. It will provide full-fledge 360º VR experience. It will also give the player the ability to interact with the game using their hands, like activating warp drive or broadcasting images to the space ship’s view screen or scanning distant-objects in space. The bridge of the Aegis will be almost the same as the Enterprise space ship.
The game will have well-made campaign quests as well as side-quests. And yes, it won’t be fully-focused on ship-vs-ship combat, it will also involve exploration. The game is expected to be out this fall and it will be playable on both popular VR headsets, the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift.
