In the past, we’ve seen quite a few limited edition smartphones. Some smartphones that come to mind are the Samsung’s special edition Galaxy S6 and S7 which were based on Iron Man and Batman. If I could recall the price correctly, the S7 Batman Edition starts at around $1249 on Ebay. However, Oppo has also joined the bandwagon by introducing their Oppo F1 Plus Barcelona Edition. The phone originally costs about RM2099 in Malaysia, which translates to $519~.
The phone has reached a massive bid of RM 23,478 on a local online shopping site, GEMFIVE. The phone includes signatures by popular football players. These signatures are from Messi, Suarez and Neymar. Even though the bid has reached such an amount, GEMFIVE claims “Proceeds from the winning bidder will be donated to “30 Hour Famine” by World Vision”. So basically you will be helping those in need with the excess money.
The phone itself comes as a decent package packing a MediaTek Octa-Core MT6755, 4GB RAM, 64GB of Internal Storage and a fingerprint scanner packed under a full metal body. On the software side, you’ll be looking at Oppo’s Color OS 3.0, based on Android Lollipop.
For the camera configuration, you are looking at 13MP rear shooter coupled with 16MP front camera. Sadly the cameras do not support 4k and are limited to 1080p. Anyways, a good choice for selfie fans.
The phone also comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display being juiced by a 2850mAh battery to be juiced by Oppo’s own solution for fast-charging, VOOC.
If you reside in Malaysia, the bid is open at GEMFIVE right now, only bid increments above RM 10 are permitted.
