PlayStation’s 2-Step Verification Now Available in North America

While PlayStation and Xbox have had quite a few discrepancies in the security department, last week, it was reported by a Sony Employee that 2-Step Verification is heading towards Australia and New Zealand. This week, it’s North America’s turn to implement Sony’s 2-Step Verification on their PS4 and PSN accounts.

The 2-step verification works by sending a code to your smartphone which acts as a temporary obligatory second pass, at least for that login, which is similarly found as a security measure on popular email websites.

It’s nice to see at least a minor step from Sony, although, even 2-step veification isn’t enough in all cases as this was one of the key reasons how hackers got into popular Youtube accounts, last month. Nonetheless, still a great move.
