HTC Teases Two New Desire 10 Smartphones, The New Selfie Expert?

HTC has really been taking a kick recently with many of their flagships not selling as well as its rivals. Undoubtedly HTC manufactures excellent premium phones – the HTC One family is a perfect example – but the company has also started shifting a bit of their focus to the budget conscious consumer taking selfies to another level. Oppo, a chinese brand gaining quite a lot of attention crowns its smartphone as the selfie king. While that has been tested by our fellow websites, it’s time for the front camera to get a new feature instead of just increasing the megapixel count.

In a video, HTC recently shows off an HTC Desire 10, a phone targeted for the selfie enthusiasts that takes 150° panoramic selfies. Until now, smartphones have been focusing on packing wide angle lenses in their smartphones. Although HTC has had quite a good reputation at how they execute their ideas, it’ll be interesting how it stacks up against the competition.

Joyfully enough, the HTC Desire 10 Pro and Lifestyle comes in 4 colors but they differ in specs. Although HTC has gained it’s recognition, we don’t think it could captivate many users with the hardware packed in these phones when comparing the prices – $330~ for the Lifestyle and TBA for the Pro. Android Authority reports that the Pro would be priced in between the Lifestyle and HTC 10. What’s that “in between” is still yet to be answered by HTC.

Talking about what HTC is packing for those $330, the HTC Desire 10 Lifestyle comes with the following internals:

  • Dimensions: 156.9 x 76.9 x 7.7mm, 155g
  • Display: 5.5-inch, HD (720p) Super LCD Gorilla Glass
  • Processor: quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400
  • RAM: 2GB or 3GB
  • Storage: 16GB or 32GB, expandable
  • Rear camera: 13 MP, f/2.2
  • Front camera: 5MP, f.2.8
  • Battery: 2,700-mAh, fast charging
  • Other features: HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition, Hi-Res certified, Dolby Audio
  • Operating system: Android 6.0 with HTC Sense

Meanwhile, the HTC 10 Pro gets the full goodie treatment with the following specifications

  • Dimensions: 156.5 x 76 x 7.86mm, 165g
  • Display: 5.5-inch, Full HD (1080p) IPS Gorilla Glass
  • Processor: 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P10
  • RAM: 3GB or 4GB
  • Storage: 32GB or 64GB, expandable
  • Rear camera: 20 MP, f/2.2, laser autofocus
  • Front camera: 13MP, f.2.2, Selfie Panorama
  • Battery: 3,000-mAh, fast charging
  • Other features: HTC BoomSound profile, fingerprint reader
  • Operating system: Android 6.0 with HTC Sense

Whether the Lifestyle appeals to consumers is just pretty apparent. For US consumers, Android Authority also reports that neither of these phone would be available in the States . Let’s just wait and see how the selfie camera compares.
