PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has enjoyed massive sales numbers. With the title almost making its way out of its early access testing period on PC, its time for the developers to adapt the game for Xbox One owners.
Despite the game performing admirably well in terms of sales, the title definitely has a lot to work on when it comes to optimizing the title, even on the PC. With the title finally making its way onto the Xbox One family of devices, that is, in Xbox’s Early Game Preview program, the title has been running horribly on the Xbox One family of devices. One of the best tech analytical game critics, Digital Foundry, has published their performance numbers and experience with PUBG. Based off of what Digital Foundry found, the title has a ton of optimization issues and seems to be running into a CPU bottleneck.
Throughout the title, PUBG runs between 20-30FPS with major chips and dips here and there. Alongside that, under certain heavy environments, the title runs above 10FPS. These numbers are experienced throughout the Xbox One family of consoles. Although, what’s worth mentioning is that the Xbox One X is running the title at 4K, while the Xbox One S version of the title runs at a much lower resolution. Even so, it seems like Bluehole would have to get the game running smoothly on the Xbox One X and Xbox One S. Perhaps the transition from the PC to the Xbox One S isn’t working out that well for them. Let’s hope they work on it before the title actually makes its way to the shelves at our local gaming stores.
