South Australia’s COVID caseload continues its downward trend, dropping over 1k on yesterday’s figure as testing fell during the Easter weekend.
2,675 cases were reported today in the state- a significant decrease from yesterday’s 3 749.
The PCR test figure is alarming. It coincided with a 33% drop in the number of people receiving these tests yesterday, compared to Good Friday and even more so Wednesday when there were over 15 thousand administering them!
The number of people actively seeking treatment in hospitals has decreased to an all-time low this week. The daily caseload is only the second time that fewer than 3,000 cases have been recorded since March 15th and Australia can make some progress towards ending its pandemic!
The South African government has announced that no further deaths were recorded in the 24-hour reporting period.
A genetic test on serum samples collected from patients suffering from fever indicated around 60% of current cases are due to a rare variant called BA2, which is believed by scientists and experts at SA Health “to have led them into this outbreak.”
