Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi are starring in Spider-Man 4, a campaign called for on Twitter. Sony has responded. In the web-slinging teenage heroin Raimi’s superhero trilogy, Maguire plays Peter Parker, a high school student who struggles to adapt to his newfound powers while simultaneously trying desperately to win the heart of his crush, Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst).
In Spider-Man 3 he faces a trio of villains, including the remarkable Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and the New Goblin (James Franco). Maguire’s Spider-Man battles a range of lords and villains in each of the three films, ranging from the evil Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) in Spider-Man to the ingenious Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) in Spider-Man 2. Though Raimi’s trilogy was a success and popular, the fourth installment was canceled after the director felt he could not meet Sony’s set release date of May 6, 2010, resulting in the rebooted The Amazing Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield.
With Maguire’s brief return to the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, interest in his original movies has risen to a new level and a campaign was launched to convince Sony to finally make Spider-Man 4 with Maguire and Raimi.
Sony has yet to confirm if Spider-Man 4 will be produced, but Raimi’s own comments about doing it have added to the excitement. Therefore, hashtags including #SpiderMan4 and #MakeSpiderMan4 have begun taking over Twitter and spreading widely in an attempt to draw attention to the production company’s ardent desire to produce the fourth movie from Maguire.
well this has been fun for our mentions today 😂😂
friendly reminder, we’re just the social team!

PlayStation has finally responded to the Spider-Man 4 campaign, although maybe not quite as fans might have expected. Sony’s official Twitter account jokes that a report on Raimi’s plans for another sequel has been “fun.”! We’re just the social team, Sony says.
Before, Spider-Man’s social media page responded in a playful manner to widespread calls for a rebooted sequel. Sony responded to fans’ requests to see Garfield in another solo Spider-Man film by releasing Peter Parker’s solo movie last month. The social media team was in charge of Sony’s Twitter account then as it is now, so nobody has any input into what gets made or not.
Given that both Sony’s official account and their own have begun to mention the hashtags, it shows that they are clearly achieving the kind of attention that fans were hoping for. Raimi’s views clearly have fueled the demand for Spider-Man 4, as Sony presumably gets tagged in dozens of tweets calling for the film. Given Sony’s specific response to this report, it shows that Raimi’s views are clearly escalating demand for the film.
Maguire Spider-Man fans are still hopeful despite this response undoubtedly disappointing those who are eager for another film. In spite of 15 years since Maguire’s Spider-Man was released, No Way Home has provided Sony with evidence that there is still a market for the movie. Raimi’s participation in the MCU as director of Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, as well as the cut Raimi Spider-Man references in Morbius, has made Spider-Man 4 appear ever more likely.
