Margot Robbie REPLACING Johnny Depp? Pirates of the Caribbean 6 Producer Jerry Bruckheimer Confirms

Disney released the Pirates of the Caribbean movie five years ago. With all of the Johnny Depp controversy, the issue of what comes next for the franchise remains.

Margot Robbie is setting sail with the guidance of Christina Hodson, the author of Birds of Prey.

Hodson has been hired to write a new Pirates of the Caribbean film for Disney, which will star Robbie.

The Pirates of the Caribbean revival appears to be moving forward. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently updated the public on the impending Disney project, confirming that Pirates of the Caribbean 6, starring Margot Robbie, is still in the works. In addition, Bruckheimer has stated that a sequel is in the works!

In an interview with The Sunday Times, producer Jerry Bruckheimer disclosed that not one, but two Pirates of the Caribbean films are still in the works. One with Margot Robbie (The Suicide Squad), whose deal is still being worked out, and one without. “Yes. Margot Robbie is on the line. We’re working on two Pirates scripts, one with her and the other without.”

While promoting Top Gun: Maverick, Jerry Bruckheimer also discussed his forthcoming projects, including the next Pirates of the Caribbean picture. When asked if the reboot is still in the works, Bruckheimer replied, “Yes. Margot Robbie is on the line.”

Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, writers of Deadpool and Zombieland 2: Double Tap, were hired to write the sixth episode in 2018, but dropped out months later. Then, along with Ted Elliot, who wrote the previous Pirates films, Craig Mazin, the creator of Chornobyl, was hired to write the script. This is most certainly one of the projects mentioned by Bruckheimer.

Given that prior reports have already established that Margot Robbie has signed on for Pirates of the Caribbean 6, this is an intriguing reaction. However, it’s possible that the contract has fallen through or that Robbie is negotiating a better arrangement.

The screenplay for the Robbie-led movie has been written by Christina Hodson, who also wrote the screenplay for Mazin and Elliot’s Pirates of the Caribbean revival. Both films will, however, be set in the same universe as the MCU.

Jerry Bruckheimer hasn’t stopped talking about the franchise. “We are drafting two Pirates scripts – one with her, one without,” he added.

Surprisingly, it appears like other Pirates of the Caribbean projects are in the works, and the brand may continue after Margot Robbie’s film. What, on the other hand, could the other picture be about? The majority of fans are yearning for Johnny Depp’s return.

While both film projects are still in the works, I mentioned on The DisInsider Show during our “Rumor of the Week” section that Disney is working on a Pirates of the Caribbean Disney+ series, which is still in the early stages of development. As this project is still in its early phases, I don’t have any other details at this time. More information about the franchise should be available during Disney’s D23 Expo in September.

Hodson is a Hollywood blockbuster writer whose credits include the Transformers spinoff Bumblebee as well as the DC superhero films The Flash and Batgirl, in which Michael Keaton reprises his renowned role as Batman.

In addition to working together on Birds of Prey, Robbie and Hodson co-founded the Lucky Exports Pitch Program in 2019, a new initiative aiming at getting more female-identifying writers recruited by studios to write action films.

The release date for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has yet to be announced. Follow this article for more information.
