Blizzard Releases a Statement on the Status of Overwatch 2 Issues.

You’re not the only one who had problems entering Overwatch 2 at launch. Mike Ybarra, the president of Blizzard, made a similar announcement on Twitter. In a lengthy forum post, Blizzard Entertainment outlines all of the known problems with Overwatch 2 and explains how it plans to repair them.

The Overwatch team addressed the numerous issues players have been having since the free-to-play game’s launch on Tuesday in a post on Blizzard’s forums, and it described its plans to fix them.

Although the game has been enjoyed by millions, the firm stated that the launch “has not reached your, or our, expectations.”

The “majority of current Overwatch players” will no longer be blocked from playing the game by Blizzard’s contentious two-factor authentication system, SMS Protect, which is anticipated to be introduced on October 7.

According to Blizzard, server patches are being developed to enhance stability and login reliability. Players have complained of problems with merging accounts, problems with the SMS Protect security function, missing things, and more, in addition to the biggest problem of experiencing a mass DDoS attack.

Players of Overwatch 2 who combined their PC and Console accounts on Battle.net have noticed that the goods they’ve won are also disappearing. This problem, according to Blizzard, has one of two root causes.

The lock indicators were still visibly displayed since certain console gamers did not receive the account merge prompt upon logging in. The user interface (UI) has been partially fixed, but Blizzard is still working on a comprehensive remedy. The second problem is allegedly brought on by the account updating the Overwatch 2 inventory list more slowly than it should.

Blizzard guarantees its users that neither situation has resulted in the loss of any inventory goods. Players should continue to anticipate observing queues and encountering disconnects in the short term even if some issues have been fixed, as there is still work to be done. All of the initial heroes in Overwatch 2 must be unlocked after 100 matches for newcomers to the series.

The “First Time User Experience,” a new introduction process, appears to have been applied wrongly to certain current gamers, according to Blizzard. When Overwatch 2 premiered on Tuesday, gamers who found themselves blocked off from the game and whose accounts they had invested time and money into may see that issue addressed.

However, it’s unlikely to satisfy everyone, and limiting access to the game to those with approved postpaid phone service will still cause problems for many people in the US and elsewhere who either share a phone number, don’t have one at all, or simply use a service provider that Blizzard doesn’t like.
