With his fan-favorite character returning in Daredevil, Charlie Cox is thrilled to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Born again.
Following his appearance on “She-Hulk,” Attorney at Law, Daredevil fans can expect to see the Devil of Hell’s kitchen once more: Born anew. Charlie Cox is “thrilled that [he’s] been invited to the party” and describes the 18-episode series as a “bold move,” even though not much is known about it.
The Daredevil series on Netflix was the independent Marvel show with the most viewers, and the fan-favorite character received a lot of support after the show was canceled. Cox is more than up to the challenge of bringing Daredevil back to life, and the MCU finally accepted him after years of petitioning for his return.
However, Marvel Studios may bring back the hero’s dark sense of humor in Daredevil, so the MCU’s Daredevil may not always be the same as the one fans are accustomed to seeing. Born again.
Cox kept pretty quiet about the much-anticipated Daredevil series in typical Marvel fashion. However, he did say that the 18 episodes will probably tell a lot of Matt Murdock’s lawyer story. Cox stated that physically shooting is “going to be a real slog” in an interview with Variety. He is excited, however, because “there are a lot of stories you can tell, just outside of the superhero element,” given the number of episodes.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s hero will make different appearances than in the Netflix series. Cox asserted, “Even life that is very serious has comedic moments in it. Obviously, Daredevil at his core works better as a show that is geared toward an audience that is more mature.”The appearance of Daredevil on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has already confirmed that there will be some “tongue in cheek” humor and a lighter tone.
Cox stated, “It was a really great experiment, both for the character and myself, to see how we fit into that world.”Because “he’s overly serious,” the goal was to make Daredevil a part of the jokes, not the heart of them. Whether Daredevil will continue this trend: Although the outcome of Born Again is unknown, Cox described it as a “fun experiment.”
Daredevil’s yellow and red suit, which is similar to the hero’s original costume in the comics, is another thing that sets him apart. The suit was a “great homage to some of the earlier Daredevil runs,” in the words of Cox. He “got goosebumps” just thinking about how the suit would be received by fans when he first saw a digital rendering of it. However, Daredevil’s journey would not be complete without a few of his trusted allies from the Netflix series.
Despite rumors that Daredevil will cast additional actors: There are rumors about Born Again for the show, but it is unknown if the following characters will appear in Daredevil: Born Again, with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin being the only other character that has been confirmed thus far. “I just don’t know what the plan is for the future,” Cox stated.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently in production and is expected to premiere in 2024 on Disney Plus.
