How House of the Dragon’s 9th Episode Creates a Problem With the Show’s Time Jump.

The ninth episode of House of the Dragon, “The Reckoning,” aired on Sunday night and it was a doozy. The episode began with a time jump of sorts, as we saw Viserys Targaryen (Eddie Izzard) being crowned King of the Seven Kingdoms. It was a moment that fans have been waiting for since the show was first announced, but it was also a bit of a letdown.

The problem with the time jump is that it felt like the show was trying to catch up to where Game of Thrones left off. We saw Viserys being crowned, but we didn’t see how he got there. We saw him interact with his sister Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), but their relationship felt like it was on fast-forward.

And while there were some great moments in the episode, such as Tyrion’s (Peter Dinklage) speech at Viserys’ coronation, they were overshadowed by the rushed feel of the episode. It’s a shame, because House of the Dragon has been a great show so far. It’s just that this episode didn’t quite live up to its potential.

The show skipped ahead six years to show the aftermath of the dragon queen’s destruction of King’s Landing. While the time jump was necessary to advance the story, it also created some problems. First, it was jarring to see the city in ruins after last seeing it intact. Second, many of the main characters look significantly older, which makes it difficult to suspend disbelief.

Third, several key plot points from the previous season were glossed over or completely ignored. Despite these issues, “The Queen’s Justice” was still a strong episode. It featured excellent performances from Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage, and set up an intriguing conflict between Cersei and Jon Snow.

The episode takes place 10 years after the events of the previous episode, and much has changed in that time. The characters have aged, new locations have been introduced, and new plot threads have been introduced. This time jump is a bit too much for the viewer to take in all at once, and it makes it difficult to follow what is going on.

The biggest problem with the time jump is that it feels like the show is starting over again from scratch. We are reintroduced to the characters and their world, but we don’t really get a sense of how they got to where they are now. We don’t see the events that led up to this point, so it’s hard to care about what happens next. This is a major problem with the show, and it needs to be fixed if it wants to continue being successful.
