Just a few days ago, famous leaker, Max Weinbach released iPhone 14 Pro Max schematics online, indicating that Apple’s future device would have an even greater camera bump.
The camera bulge on the Cupertino company’s upcoming Pro Max device will stick out even more than the present iPhone 13 Pro Max, growing from 3.60mm to 4.17mm, according to the schematics.
According to MacRumors, the camera module’s other measurements will be increased by almost 5% on the next iPhone, with its height increasing from 36.24mm to 38.21mm and its width increasing from 35.01mm to 36.73mm.
We’re talking about a difference of 1-2 mm here, which isn’t going to be a deal-breaker for anyone. However, because the camera module is deeper, those who want their smartphone to rest flat without wobbling will need a larger phone cover.

What does this mean for the camera on the iPhone 14 Pro?
Given the rumored increase in camera module size on the iPhone 14 Pro Max, we have to assume that Apple’s forthcoming flagship will receive a big camera boost, and it turns out that trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that is exactly the case.
In reaction to a post regarding Weinbach’s leaked schematics, Kuo reacted to Twitter, claiming that the increase in module size is due to Apple “upgrading the wide camera to 48MP” on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models – a significant step up from the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max’s current 12MP offering.
“The diagonal length of 48MP CIS (Contact Image Sensors) will expand by 25-35 percent, and the height of 48MP’s 7P lens will increase by 5-10 percent,” the expert continued.
Of course, none of this is set in stone just yet, and we won’t know for sure whether there’s any truth to this leak until its September release. However, if the leak is real, we believe the rumored camera enhancements would make the module’s size increase well worth it.
What about the normal 14-inch iPhone? While Weinbach did not reveal its schematic, I believe the proportions will be unimportant. It has the same design (and even the same processor) as the iPhone 13 (146.7 x 71.5 x 7.7 mm), so I don’t anticipate much to change here. The upcoming iPhone 14 Max is expected to be similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Apple’s ambitions are becoming evident at this time. While early rumors suggested that Apple was exploring some huge ideas (a switch to USB-C, no SIM tray, and the reintroduction of Touch ID), the firm eventually landed on a simpler strategy: expand the gap between Pro and non-Pro iPhones.
The former will see design and performance improvements, while the latter appears to be the most modest upgrade in iPhone history.
Make no mistake, 2022 is all about the iPhone 14 Pros, and they will drop jaws, maybe at matching costs.
