Netflix’s thrilling crime drama ‘Ozark’ delivered a suspenseful conclusion in its fourth season. Now, fans eagerly await news on whether the series will continue with a fifth season on the streaming platform.
Over its run, ‘Ozark’ earned widespread acclaim for its compelling storyline about financial advisor Marty Byrde becoming entangled in money laundering schemes. Led by Jason Bateman, the show was praised for excellent acting and gripping narrative twists.
Despite hopes for renewal, Netflix has not yet announced an official Season 5 pickup. Showrunner Chris Mundy had envisioned a five-season arc but agreed to conclude the story in an expanded Season 4.
While the door seems shut, glimmers of hope remain. Bateman hinted at potential future stories, imagining the Byrdes relocating to Chicago and using political connections. However, he acknowledged their hubris could lead to more chaos.
For now, fans await updates on a possible Season 5. With no official renewal yet, the future of ‘Ozark’ remains uncertain. But its critical acclaim and eager viewers suggest more stories could emerge.
All four seasons can be streamed on Netflix. And ‘Ozark’ continues gaining praise for its originality, with comparisons to ‘Breaking Bad’ becoming increasingly irrelevant. This exceptional series has carved its own unique identity.
This article includes spoilers for Ozark Season Four, Part Two.
After five great, nervous years of watching Ozark, I’ll share with you what my mom—my faithful Ozark-watching companion—texted when the series finale credits rolled:
However, the news isn’t all rosy. Ozark season 4’s last seven episodes are now available to stream on Netflix, bringing the critically acclaimed crime drama to a close.
Though the original Ozark series is finished, some people aren’t off base to request a different kind of extension. “I’d love for this show or movie [to be] turned into something else!” one fan said while watching their favorite episode recently – as if we didn’t already know about Chris Mundy’s possible ideas! As it turns out he has considered spinoffs too–with limits that make sense based on what happened in his main episodes…
The chances of Ozark returning for the fifth season are, at this point, remote. All members of the Bryde family were seen alive and free from ties to the cartel in the series finale. The only significant storyline line that’s unresolved is Jonah Bryde murdering Mel Sattem, which may result in future problems for the family.
Important points for fast readers:
- “Ozark,” a popular crime drama on Netflix, follows the Byrde family’s money-laundering scheme in Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks region.
- The show concluded with Season 4 Part 2, and there won’t be an Ozark: Season 5, as confirmed by the production team and Netflix.
- The cast will not return for a potential Season 5, but they have secured roles in other upcoming shows and films.
- Jason Bateman (Marty Byrde) will be in “Carry On,” “Clue,” and “Black Rabbit.”
- Laura Linney (Wendy Byrde) will appear in “The Miracle Club,” “Suncoast,” and “Wildcat.”
- Julia Garner (Ruth Langmore) will be seen in “The Royal Hotel” and “Apartment 7A.”
- Felix Solis (Omar Navarro) will appear in “City On Fire” and “The Patrolman.”
- Lisa Emery (Darlene Snell) will be in a short film called “Little Orange Flags.”
- Jason Bateman and Chris Mundy offered their opinions on what could have been in Ozark: Season 5 in an interview.
- Jason Bateman imagines the Byrde family testing a theory in Chicago and dealing with the consequences of their actions.
- Chris Mundy suggests that the Byrdes got what they wanted, but now they carry a curse.
- The potential plotlines for Ozark: Season 5 could involve the Byrde family continuing their life of crime or trying to redeem themselves for their past actions.
- Both paths seem to lead to a rough future for the Byrdes, considering the show’s themes of crime and consequences.
Is that everything? The end?
I’m sorry to break it to her and to all readers who have followed our coverage of the show. That’s it, though. That concludes the discussion. My journalistic duty is to notify you that everyone involved with Ozark has stated that Season Four will be the final season. The cast even put together a dramatic send-off video. But there are two things we’ll do. First, let’s examine what Ozark showrunner Chris Mundy and star Jason Bateman have stated about where the Byrdes are headed following the finale. Then, in a circumstance like this, we’ll do the only thing we can—imagine a way (or two) for Ozark’s story to continue. As a special treat.
It’s hard to believe that Ozark is already coming to an end. It feels like only yesterday that we were first introduced to the Byrdes and their complicated world of money laundering and crime. But four seasons later, the show is coming to a close. While it’s sad to see it go, I’m excited to see how everything wraps up.
Show-runner Chris Mundy has said that he thinks the Byrdes will go “full-on criminal” in the final season. I have to agree. After everything they’ve been through, there’s no way they can go back to their old lives. They’re in too deep now. And besides, who would want to live a boring, normal life after all the excitement and adventure they’ve had?
Star Jason Bateman has said that he thinks Season Four will be a “bittersweet” ending for the Byrdes. I think that’s accurate. There will be some happy moments, but there will also be some tragedy and heartbreak. After all, this is a crime drama. We can’t expect everything to end perfectly.
I’m hoping for a happy ending for the Byrdes. They’ve been through so much and they deserve it. But even if things don’t work out perfectly for them, I’m still interested to see how everything plays out in the final season of Ozark.
Key Factors to Consider
Cast Availability: The cast of “Ozark” is made up of some of the most talented actors in the business, and many of them have demanding schedules. It is possible that the release date for Season 5 could be delayed if any of the key cast members are unavailable.
Netflix’s Release Schedule: Netflix is known for releasing new seasons of its original series on a regular schedule, with most shows debuting new seasons every year or two. Given the popularity of “Ozark,” it is likely that the fifth season will arrive sometime in 2023.
What Fans Can Expect From Season 5
While there has been no official announcement about the plot of Season 5, fans can expect it to pick up where the fourth season left off. Given the cliffhangers at the end of the previous season, it is likely that the fifth season will focus on the resolution of these storylines and the continuation of the overarching narrative.
Fans can also expect to see the return of all their favorite characters, including Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney), and the rest of the Byrde family.
Additionally, the show is likely to continue to explore the dark and dangerous world of the Ozarks, as the Byrde family navigates their way through the criminal underworld and tries to keep their secrets hidden.
Even though he successfully managed to preserve his life, connections to Ozark were inevitable. He had been a part of the community for so long that it was impossible to simply walk away from everything.
Even though his relationship with his wife had already broken down in front of our eyes, he brought the entire family with him. She did not disguise the fact that she had cheated on him, but she nevertheless turned to a forgotten facet of God to avoid losing her son.
In the end, it was this that led to his downfall. He had put too much trust in someone who was unstable. The stress of the situation was too much for him and he ended up making a fatal mistake.
After years of service, Martin is finally settling into his new home. However, he is quickly growing frustrated with his lack of money. To recover the money that was taken from him over the years, Martin is frantically planning how to cheat the system.
He is not concerned about losing the trust of the locals, as he believes that they are all dishonest themselves. With his plans in place, Martin is confident that he will be able to get the money that he deserves.

Marty (Jason Bateman) and Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney) have had a wild journey since they set up their family in the Ozarks to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel, with plenty of twists and turns along the way.
The Netflix original has been a significant success for the streaming service, with the first half of season 4 achieving the highest watching figures for any streaming title in nearly two years.
Furthermore, the most recent installment of episodes finishes on a massive cliffhanger, which is sure to leave some fans hungry for more. More on it in our spoiler-filled Ozark season 4 part 2 finale explained post.
Mundy told Vanity Fair, “I think they’ve gone on.” “They got what they thought they wanted.” But, to be honest, I believe they’re carrying a curse.” Bateman had a lot more to say in the same Vanity Fair article. “I’m betting they’ll go up to Chicago and put Wendy’s idea to the test: Have we accumulated enough political capital to put some things in place that will help people?” “he added.
“It took a long time to get that money, but will the goal justify the means? While I believe they are smarter now than when we first met them, I believe their arrogance and hubris will continue to trip them up. I believe that humility would lead them to make better decisions, but I don’t believe they have reached that point yet.”
It’s time for some guesswork. You’d have to imagine that if we had the miracle of all miracles and Netflix renewed Ozark for a fifth season, future episodes would be business as usual. Assume Jonah fires a shot at Mel. The Byrdes would be free of any trail leading to their ordered hit on Ben, at least for the time being. But that is far from the end of their worries. The Byrdes will certainly confront a huge barrier in laundering money through the casino if Camila Navarro kills Ruth Langmore (we’re still heartbroken over this one). Rachel would gain full possession of the Missouri Belle because I’m not privy to the tiny print on the legal documents. If I’m wrong, please correct me. Rachel was not going to allow the Byrdes to bully her again.
About Ozark Season 4?
Julia Garner plays Ruth Langmore in Ozark Season 4 Part 2 Episode 7.
Ozark, season after season, has captivated the audience with a unique plot twist leaving a bloody trail behind. This American series first made its appearance on 1st July 2017. 31st August 2018, after a long wait of 1 year came the second season and the third season took two consecutive years to reach us by 27th March 2020. Each of these three seasons consisted of a brief ten episodes.
Season four, the longest among them, was divided into two halves, each consisting of 7 episodes. The first part premiered on 21st January 2022 and the second part is all set to spread the terror.
Netflix and the producers have announced the season 4 part 2 release date.
In June 2020, it was reported that the show would be back for a “supersized” fourth and final season, consisting of 14 episodes split into two parts.
Meanwhile, the Byrdes would have to adjust to another boss’s peculiarities, as Camila Navarro appears to be a lot more bloodthirsty than she first appeared. There are a couple of stray personalities left in Ozark-land, aside from the Byrdes returning to their pranks and the Navarros Navarro-ing. Mainly? Three and Zeke.
The last two Langmore (or Langmore-adjacent) tribe members have been left to their own devices. Why can’t we get a baby Zeke and Three spin-offs where they take Ruth’s inheritance and explore the world instead of more Byrde and Navarro nonsense? A warm-hearted road trip would be welcome after the darkness of Ozark’s end. However, we suspect the show’s creators would agree.
Ozark Season 4 Part 2 Episode 1 stars Veronica Falcón as Camila Elizondo.
Meanwhile, before the final season was revealed, Bateman said in an interview with Collider about the show’s third season, “I think there’s always been the presumed range [of] three seasons, four seasons, five seasons, something like that.”
Because of Marty and Wendy’s intelligence and the escalation rate in the danger and the play, Bateman decided not to “jump the shark,” saying that “they’re either going to be killed or placed in jail.”
