Reddit is bringing back its r/Place April Fools’ Day experience for four days beginning on Easter Sunday. The social media company’s executive vice president of strategy and special projects, Alex Le said in a blog post that this move was meant to showcase “the magic” of online communities – conversation between users who come together over shared interests or experiences.”
The r/Place board was a social experiment that launched on April 1st, 2017. On this unique website, users were able to make their digital footprint by placing colored pixels one at a time and logging in every five minutes just like any other user would do with the app or site! It became wildly popular attracting 16 million tiles from more than 1 million people (but featuring some pretty crude images too). The brains behind it all had deep ties – Josh Wardle created the word puzzle Wordle
If you want to take part in the latest version of r/Place, which begins on April 1st at 9 AM ET and ends on April 5th at midnight central time then log into your account via Reddit’s website or mobile app. You can place tiles with ease by clicking that P-shaped logo near the top right corner when viewing any page within chuckラard’s community platform (the “home” feed). visits will be able until then so visit often!
People are naturally collaborative and creative when it comes to Reddit, according to Le. The site has a history of inspiring how we build new features such as Robin – an April Fools’ Day chat room that paired up random users who led them into real-time conversation; or Circle Of Trust (COT) which was released this year but had its roots in 2018.”
“We can’t wait to see what collaboration happens on r/place this year and learn how we might better serve our community.”
