Moon Knight will feel quite distant from the rest of the MCU, and there will be a split in the larger narrative with Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke.
In an interview with IGN, Isaac stated that the plot’s separation from the greater Marvel cosmos was unquestionably what drew him to the role(s) of Steven Grant/Marc Spector/Moon Knight (the protagonist who has multiple personality disorder and is a planet of an Egyptian god). “How did you conceive of that?” Isaac clarified, partly because it reminded him of his favorite MCU film.

My favorite Marvel film remains the original Iron Man. You know it feels like it broke through, and it has a very memorable performance, with Downey Jr. being the only one who does so well at the moment. That’s considerably less mature and strange, so that’s the first one you’ve heard of? That appeals to me much.
“A similar approach was made to [Moon Knight], therefore he likely built this idea from the ground up.” It’s still in the universe, but it’s not a part of the storyline or the story; it’s just an examination of that person, and it’s a small part of that.
Ethan Hawke, who plays the mysterious new villain Arthur Harrow, acknowledged that a standalone plot was “definitely the turn-on” for taking the job, and he also revealed his favorite MCU films.
I love how, when I see Iron Man or Black Panther and don’t recognize all of the characters, I’m always told new mythology. When we initially discussed it, I was overjoyed that it was detached, because it gave us a lot more freedom. And as a group of people, I want to know what will happen. It has its own uniqueness, and it provides us with the possibility.
Moon Knight isn’t simply unrelated to the MCU; it’s also the character’s on-screen counterpart, notably transforming Steven Grant into a mutilated collector. Isaac stated that the alterations are appropriate for a comic book character who has been involved numerous times over the last decades.
This became a part of the process, not only for Moon Knight’s TV writers, but also for the performers, who were looking for a new version of their characters rather than just an adaptation.
“Jeremy Slater and his team of writers,” Isaac said, “seem to fit the complete structure.” They said, Alright, we know we want to go with Steven Grant, that’s our way in, but we’re not going to make him a millionaire playboy, like a Bruce Wayne clone, we’re going to turn it on its head. So, what do you believe is the most intriguing and emotionally compelling for me? So we must concentrate our efforts entirely on that.
