Amazon announced Monday that their maximum base pay in the United States has increased to $350,000 from 160k. This is a more than doubling of what an employee can currently make at work and it’s only going up from here!
“This past year has seen a particularly competitive labor market, and in doing a thorough analysis of various options, weighing the economics of our business and the need to remain competitive for attracting and retaining top talent, we decided to make meaningfully bigger increases to our compensation levels than we do in a typical year,” the internal post said.

It’s not clear how many Amazon employees may directly benefit from the change or will soon earn an above-average salary, but according to a blog post by CEO Jeff Bezos it appears that base pay has been capped at $160K “for several years.”
