John Stahl’s Richard Karstark was last seen in the Battle of the Bastards Episode when his castle was taken by House Bolton. In the book, Karstark is beheaded for treason after Rickard Stark’s death, but he is still alive in the show. John Stahl will be remembered for his portrayal of Richard Karstark in Game of Thrones.
Before his role in the program, Stahl was best known for playing Tom “Inverdarroch” Kerr in Taking the High Road, a long-running Scottish soap opera. From 1982 until the show’s end in 2003, Stahl portrayed Inspector MacDougal. A representative for the actor stated that he was “an actor of enormous range and talent” who will be greatly missed.
