The shooting in Sacramento was one of the most terrible events to occur this year, with six people dead and 12 others injured.
When the police arrived at this scene, they found a large crowd gathered on street. All of them had been watching an argument between two people that quickly escalated into gunfire!
The Sacramento Police Chief was responding to reports of gunfire when her department heard them. They arrived at the scene and found a large crowd gathered in front of an establishment that had just been shot up, but no victims yet reported shots fired by anyone within or outside this location
The police are still looking for any information that may help them find out who was involved in the attack. They have even turned to the public, asking anyone with recordings or witness accounts of this incident to contact them immediately!
It is a very complex and complicated scene, she said. The police later announced that one firearm had been recovered at the scene so far.”
The mayor of Sacramento said that there were “mass casualties in a very short period of time — that’s what we know.” The type and number used is not clear, but it sounds like multiple people died from this event.
The President called the shooting “a senseless and unacceptable tragedy.”
“Can we not have a sane debate where on one side of the line you say that people who want to use firearms for sport or for hunting or you know, with the reasonable self-defense on one side of the line and on the other side of the line, we say there is absolutely no place for rapid-fire assault weapons anywhere anyhow,” Steinberg asked. “I mean, can we have that? Can we make that distinction?”
Councilmember Katie Valenzuela, through her tears, said she was “heartbroken” and “outraged.”
“Our community deserves better than this. This is not unique to Sacramento, but we can stop it here,” Valenzuela said.
“Enough is enough. And I will travel wherever I need to travel and I will talk to whoever I need to talk to get these guns off our streets and to give our youth what they need so that they can be successful and that they don’t get shot down on K Street when they’re out trying to have a good time,” she said.
Hours after police announced that they were aware of a social media video that may show an altercation before the shooting, officers asked for anyone who was at the scene to share any related videos.
Video posted on Twitter showed people running for their lives as the sound of rapid gunfire filled the air.
The scene was chaotic as multiple ambulances arrived to take away the wounded. The shooting happened just steps from city hall, in an area that is packed with bars and restaurants – not far from where we were standing earlier today!
The community activist, Berry Accius was at the scene shortly after I heard shots and witnessed the chaos.
“The first thing I saw was like victims. I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood on her body, a girl taking off the glass from her, a young girl screaming saying, ‘They killed my sister.’ A mother running up, ‘Where’s my son, has my son been shot?'” he said.
City Hall has been serving as an information center for families of victims, police said this morning.
“What comprehension I have is overwhelmed by sorrow. The numbers are inutterable.”
“Rising gun violence is the scourge of our city, state, and nation, and I support all actions to reduce it,” he added.
“We are all heartbroken by this tragedy,” said Gov. Newsom in his statement released today following yet another brutal gun attack that has left multiple people dead or injured – including children at their school just last week!
“As it is early in this investigation, my Administration will continue to work closely with local and state law enforcement as we monitor the situation,” he said. “What we do know at this point is that another mass casualty shooting has occurred, leaving families with lost loved ones, multiple individuals injured and a community in grief.”
