Has the world of Star Wars come to life? According to NASA, a telemedicine visit between an astronaut and a NASA doctor will take place on Oct. 8, 2021, as a hologram on the International Space Station.
The term “holoportation,” which is a combination of hologram and transportation, provides a lifelike visual and acoustic link between the space center and people on Earth.
Using Microsoft’s Hololens Kinect camera and Alexa software, Dr. Josef Schmid and his team were able to Holyport to the International Space Station, NASA said on April 8. Schmid had a 3D telemedicine consultation with astronaut Thomas Pesquet.
For private medical conferences, private psychiatric conferences, private family conferences, and VIP visits to the space station, Schmid said.
Interacting in 3D with distant people is now possible even when they aren’t physically there.
“For the first time, humans will be able to venture beyond Earth’s atmosphere. We may not be in our physical bodies, but we are fully present as human beings.”
While NASA, SpaceX, and Axiom monitor the weather, Axiom-1’s return to Earth has been postponed.
The Axiom-1 private astronauts aboard the International Space Station will stay in space a little longer because of poor weather in the area of the Atlantic Ocean where their capsule is to splashdown.
Weather officials, together with Axiom, NASA, and SpaceX, are working to determine when they can safely bring the crew home. The crew has already spent 12 days in space.
It is expected that SpaceX’s Dragon Endeavor will return to Earth once a new date has been set, splashing down off the coast of Florida.

To prepare for the voyage and their time on the ISS, they spent more than 1,000 hours training and living with NASA’s current crew of astronauts.
