Multiple Controls in One Five-button Line – Download, Add to Playlist, Play, Share – Youtube Music’s New Playlist Ui Hops Over to Albums on Tablets

One of Google’s biggest promises from I / O 2022 in its campaign to make Android tablets worth starting with is that it will be updating its more than 20 user-friendly applications that were very friendly on the big screens.

We have seen the continuous rhythm of such updates since then. Some seem to be targeting YouTube Music users right now, but don’t call it the first one. We initially included a major change in the Android Playlist UI last month that moved multiple controls into one five-button line – download, add to playlist, play, share and more in the three-dot menu.

YouTube Music UI Rebuild

Update 6/7:  For some users, redesigned YouTube Music playlists are now appearing on their Android phones. It is not yet widely used and is only a new appearance in one column.

The share button is very close to play and push, instead of to the top right corner. If you are in the produced playlist (containing Your Favorites), it is the latest, and YouTube Music playlists are the first. At that point, because the upper part is large, you start to see a few tracks on each screen.

Original 6/4: Before the announcement on stage, this view was included with A / B testing, and only applies to playlists, which may be a very important feature of the streaming service. Both your playlists and YouTube Music-produced playlists will be edited, but albums will not.

About Other Features

YouTube Music playlists have been removed (versions 5.08 and 5.09) for Android and Chrome book tablets from today.

YouTube Music is upgrading its mobile applications for larger displays even before the developer conference. A new Home Feed was released in 2022, taking advantage of extra screen real estate, while Play Now has always had a two-column structure. At that point, the Android app settings were simplified. 9to5Google identifies the Reddit user who received this change of UI but the albums are now on his Android tablet. The old design, from the left, is still in the imported albums, either.
