Sex Education Season 4: Release Date, Spoilers, Confirmed Filming? Coming Again

Netflix’s Sex Education is preparing for its fourth (and possibly final) season, but two of the cast members have said they won’t be going back to the Moordale residence.

Patricia Allison, who plays Ola in the popular Netflix series, recently made the announcement on Capital Xtra that she “won’t be joining the crew” for Sex Education season 4. She gave the reason as wanting to pursue “some other minor things.”

Below is Sex Education season 3 spoilers.

Sex Education, a filthy teen drama on Netflix, has finally returned for a colorful third season that takes up where the second one left off. The conditions of Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam’s (Connor Swindells) brand-new relationship are being worked out. Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Maeve (Emma Mackey) do not get along. And Otis’ mother, Jean (Gillian Anderson), is battling to keep her unanticipated pregnancy a secret from her ex-boyfriend, the chilly blue-eyed Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt). By the end of the eight episodes, we still have more questions than answers about how these new relationships will develop, but at least Otis and Maeve have admitted their affections for one another. Remove the champagne and rose petals!

Okay, wait a second. The problem is that Maeve is traveling to the United States for a once-in-a-lifetime study abroad opportunity, leaving the young lovers to make their way from disparate locations across the ocean. Otis makes it plain that he will be waiting for Maeve to come back. He is a teenager, though, and teenagers aren’t known for being particularly excellent at keeping their word.

Adam and Eric are also having a difficult time focusing. They’ve split up, and it’s obvious that Adam needs extensive therapy to work through the years he spent in the closet. But it doesn’t imply the ship is capsized; Eric appears ready for reconciliation after his ex-girlfriend heals.

That’s a completely another tale, though, when it comes to Otis’ mother. Despite being severely pregnant for most of season 3, Jean eventually gives birth to a cheerful baby girl, only to discover via DNA testing that the child’s father is, um, unidentified. There’s no doubt Netflix is hoping to get the go-ahead for a fourth season with that tiny cliffhanger keeping viewers spellbound. Here is what we currently know about another phrase for Moordale’s top talent.

Allison’s admission comes in the wake of co-star Simone Ashley’s departure, who is unable to reprise her role as Olivia Hanan in the upcoming season of Sex Education due to her continued commitments to another Netflix series, Bridgerton.

The following episodes of the show will be significantly missing Allison’s Ola in particular. Ola is the daughter of Mikael Persbrandt’s Jakob and a love interest-turned-sister figure to Asa Butterfield’s Otis Milburn in Sex Education. Throughout the show’s first three seasons, Ola’s headstrong demeanor remained a crucial part of the plot.

Will Sex Education return for a fourth season?

When questioned for the first time in September if he was aware of any season 4 rumors, Butterfield responded, “We don’t know [if there will be more].” At this point, we have no control over it. I sincerely wish I knew more to share with you, but I don’t. But they did desire more episodes, he and Gatwa later admitted in an ELLE interview. Butterfield is very interested in seeing how Maeve and Otis’s relationship develops and how they handle daily life without constantly worrying about their romance. He stated, “I would want to see people look at the wider picture. To better understand oneself and to concentrate more on one’s relationship with oneself or one’s platonic ties with one’s friends and family.

Ola is played by Patricia Allison in Sex Education

Compared to Ola, Olivia is more of a supporting role, but Ashley’s departure for other TV shows raises the risk of a shaky trend for one of Netflix’s most lauded programs.

In light of their Netflix breakouts, a number of Sex Education’s performers have gone on to land Hollywood-sized movie and TV parts, but it’s unclear whether all of the show’s main characters will be able to return for season 4.

Sex Education will actually return for season four, Gatwa and Jackson actor Kedar Williams-Stirling said only a few days later at Netflix’s first-ever TUDUM event.

When will the fourth season debut?

Given that there was a nearly two-year hiatus between seasons 2 and 3, partly as a result of production delays brought on by the coronavirus epidemic, it’s possible that a fourth season could debut sooner—possibly as early as late 2022.

What’s the plot of season 4?

Season 4 will undoubtedly try to tie up loose ends as Season 3 concluded with a big question mark. Also anticipated is Maeve’s return from the States, possibly with an American accent, and their reconciliation. Or not.

Before going to college, the remaining Sex Education cast members, including Eric, Adam, and others, must fulfill their final term. Who knows where the horny students will go to school now that Moordale is being sold? Add it to the list of inquiries that season 4 inescapably needs to address.

When will Netflix release season 4?

Whatever the case, Netflix will eventually release Sex Education season 4; the exact date hasn’t been announced.

The fourth season of the show won’t be released any time this year, since we do know that filming for new episodes began on July 4, 2022 (as confirmed by a recent production listing. Given that the first and second seasons of the series debuted in January each, our best projection for when the third season will air is the first half of 2023.

Even if Moordale’s pupils can only attend the make-believe school for so long until it becomes absurd for them to walk the classrooms as twenty-somethings headed for college, we’re nevertheless happy to learn that Sex Education will surely be back.

Will Simone Ashley make a comeback?

After directing Bridgerton’s second season, which debuted in March 2022, Ashley, who plays Olivia Hanan in Sex Education, became a super-star. Unfortunately, given her new obligations to the Regency drama, she won’t be returning for SE season 4. On ITV’s This Morning, she reaffirmed the information. Ashley stated, “I get asked it all the time. “No, I mean, I’m now a Bridgerton girl,” she replied.

Why won’t Patricia Allison make a comeback?

Ola’s Ola-playing actress Allison won’t be back for season 4. During an interview with Capital Xtra, she shared the news: “I have loved being on Sex Education and playing Ola so, so much, but regrettably I won’t be joining the team for season 4,” the actor said.

The celebrity will instead focus on other endeavors. Allison apologized for having to break the news to the group, saying “I’m just going to be doing some other things.” “Other opportunities have presented themselves.”
