Temuera Morrison is best known for his roles in Star Wars as Jango Fett and Boba Fett, but he has also got to play Tom Curry in the DC Extended Universe. He’ll be returning to his role as Aquaman’s father in Aquaman inside this Lost Kingdom soon, but that won’t be his only project with Jason Momoa. Momoa will executive generate Chief of War for Apple TV+, as well as write and star in it. Morrison had also joined this same new series as King Kahekili, the same King of Maui, according to Variety.
Chief of War is set in Hawaii in 1795 when the tiny island is at war with four major kingdoms vying for power. Ka’iana, a legendary warrior, chooses to live as just a fisherman instead of serving in Maui’s army, and yet his life is upended when Seers recognize him as the new leader who might help bring peace after the long conflict.
Will the Warner Bros. Discovery Changes Affect Aquaman?
Warner Bros, Discovery had also made headlines for multiple changes to HBO Max, such as having cut and removed projects to save money. The decision to cancel the Batgirl film, despite the reality that filming had already begun, was the biggest surprise. This has raised concerns about other upcoming projects, however, some people involved in the wide world of DC are optimistic about the company’s future.
Momoa was recently interviewed by the Hollywood Reporter and asked about the potential 10-year DC plan offered by CEO David Zaslav. This response, however, came well before news that DC Films CEO Walter Hamada had left Warner Bros.
The actor then teased what fans can anticipate from the upcoming Aquaman as well as the Lost Kingdom movie. The good thing about what’s did happen with COVID is that everybody is rushing to meet these deadlines, but we know this should come out when it is ready [at a time] when everyone is returning to the movie theatres. So, Tom Cruise, thank you.”
“We wrote a fantastic story,” Momoa added. “I was one of the writers on it, and as soon as we finished [Aquaman], I went with a 50-page overview for the sequel, which they used and liked. It holds a special place in my heart.
I have a strong connection to a character and also have played him in four films.” He continued, “We’ll keep going as long as possible. If people dislike it and it appears to be past its prime, we won’t make another… But, you know, if they like it, we’ll make more. I do not wish to force any of it down anyone’s throat for them to watch it. However, I adore it.”
