Doug Jones discusses Hocus Pocus 2, Revisiting Billy Butcherson, and How Prosthetics Haven’t Changed.
He also teases “Star Trek Discovery Season 5” and “What We Do in the Shadows.”
Directed by Anne Fletcher, the Disney+ original movie Hocus Pocus 2 brings back the Sanderson sisters – witches Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy) – nearly 30 years later.
As teenagers light black-flaming candles, the 17th-century troublemakers return and rampage, continuing to wreak havoc across Salem before All Hallow’s Eve ends, unleashing their newfound quest for immortality. Leave a trail of mayhem on your quest.
But the return of the Sanderson sisters also means that Billy Butcherson (Doug Jones) is back from the grave, still mad that Winifred dragged him into their drama, clearing rumors. With a renewed desire to make them his centuries-old name.
In this one-on-one interview with Collider, Jones shares how he knew a sequel was going to be made, why Billy Butcherson was always a character he wanted to revisit, and his memories of working with Sanderson. had a sister.
In the first movie where we get to know his character better, the lines he wanted to be changed.
How did the look of the character come about, why the prosthetics process never really gets any easier, and who he thinks Billy Butcherson could have been if he’d never met Winifred?
He also talked about what fans can expect from Season 5 of Star Trek: Discovery and said that he’ll be returning to What We Do in the Shadows.
DOUG Jones said was not at all shocked that a sequel was in the talks. I was surprised that it happened. We heard about such a sequel nine years ago at his 20th-anniversary screening at Disney’s Burbank His Lot.
One of his producers on both films, he said David Kirschner was in attendance and pitched this new idea for Disney’s sequel. I thought, ‘Oh dear heavens, this would be fascinating .’
And it was a cricket. With great photoshopping skills, fans make posters, I hadn’t heard about it until rumors started appearing.
They were good-looking posters that look official. So I started getting messages from people everywhere on social media. I kept getting asked, “Are you appearing in the sequel to this new work?”
“But it happened over and over again, and eventually I got a call from one of our other producers, Ralph Winter, and he said, ‘Here’s our schedule. You’re in the script.’ I said, “Okay.” That was the call I was waiting for, and it was very exciting.
Because I’m watching Discovery. I was in the middle of filming, and I was like, ‘If the filming overlapped, I’d be devastated.
It just fit in, so I was like, ‘Okay, that’s going to happen. Occur. Yes!”Jones is known for his huge roles in movies.
He is best known for playing Abe Sapien Hellboy, Amphibian Man in the Form of Water, and Panz The Pale Man in The Labyrinth – All films directed by Guillermo del Toro. However. Jones’s role in Hocus Pocus 2 is a bit more whimsical and comical compared to the other creatures he has played.
This masterpiece can be viewed now on Disney+. It currently has a score of 55 on GameSpot’s sister site Metacritic, with 15 positive reviews, 12 mixed reviews, and 2 negative reviews.
