Capcom’s choice to commercialize definite Resident Evil 4 spinoff treasure layouts as a portion of the Resident Evil 4 Deluxe Version has fueled outrage. To make them even more appealing, modern Deluxe Editions frequently include a range of digital DLC. However, having a film adaptation of Resident Evil 4 discover fresh ways to commercialize previously unmonetized content does not sit well with many Resident Evil fans.
Throughout Thursday’s Resident Evil Showpiece 2022 Livestream, the Resident Evil 4 High – end Version was announced. The Deluxe Edition includes the reimagining of Resident Evil 4 for the player’s preferred platform as well as a bonus DLC pack.
The pack contains four character skins, two armaments, an accessory, and a soundtrack swap to the “Original Version.” What Resident Evil fans are upset about is a Treasure Chart: A growth item that activates new finds in Resident Evil 4 that aren’t otherwise available.
Resident Evil enthusiasts on Reddit brought the treasure map item to their attention, asking how some Capcom is “putting in-game knick knacks beyond a paywall.” Responses include broad statements such as how games nowadays “haven’t ever started giving you all that without requiring you to pay more.”
Another user mocks the original question, implying that this isn’t a recent concept and citing Dead Space 3 doing anything related 9 years ago. Another user thanks Elden Ring and the majority of PlayStation’s first-party exclusives for avoiding this type of monetization.
Those who are complaining do not have a specific requirement for a solution, but rather overall rage just on the subject. Capcom simply would not have included the fresh monetized material in the rerelease of Resident Evil 4. That is unquestionably unlikely to happen, especially given that pre-orders for the did promise subject matter has already begun. Part of what irritates such Resident Evil fans is that there is little they can do to change the situation.
It’s interesting to note that Resident Evil fans were more upset with the treasure maps than with the Deluxe Version’s exclusive costumes or weapons. Both of these appear to be more likely to have an impact on a Resident Evil 4 team’s game experience. It’s more likely that there are too many options to be frustrated regarding, rather than not being frustrated at all.
Of course, the Resident Evil fan suggested previously is correct. This isn’t a new concept, and it wouldn’t be occurring if it wasn’t profitable for game developers. Another Resident Evil supporter is also correct. Many games lack monetization, such as Elden Ring and Ratchet & Clank. However, pre-order DLC is included in both of those games. Resident Evil 4 should make up for it with authenticity and polish.
Resident Evil 4 will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, and PC on March 24, 2023.
