Everything You Need To Know About Richard Thomas and His Family

Most people recognize Richard Thomas as John-Boy from the historical drama The Waltons from the 1970s. In Virginia, a big family was tracked during the Great Depression and World War II in the television series.

Richard Thomas, 70, who portrayed the eldest of seven children on The Waltons, had a life after the show when he fathered his own seven lovely children. Despite not having grown up on a farm in Virginia, Thomas’ life after The Waltons mimicked art in this way.

How Thomas Met his Wife

Thomas went on to feature in a number of made-for-TV films, such as The Red Badge of Courage and All Quiet on the Western Front, after his most well-known performance as John-Boy Walton.

He married Alma Gonzales while establishing himself after appearing on The Waltons. They got married in 1975 after meeting when he was filming a popular TV program. Richard Francisco, a son, was their first child together and was born the following year.

A few years later, the couple became pregnant once more, and this time, they believed they were having twins.

But three weeks before her due date, Thomas received a call from his wife while he was wrapping up a seven-month run in the play Fifth of July. A third heartbeat was discovered by her doctor.

Three of them are present. The day after tomorrow, they will arrive.

When his wife was about to give birth to their children, he alerted his stage manager and immediately took a flight home to be there.

The next day, Pilar, Gwyneth, and Barbara were born.

Their family of three suddenly expanded to a family of six.

After the birth of his three children, Thomas told People, “We’re a less mobile family today. Additionally, he said that any prospective employers “must be aware that they are recruiting a family unit. My family travels with me, which is crucial, even if I don’t have a private secretary or hairdresser with me.

Sadly, he and Gonzales got divorced in 1993.

On November 20, 1994, Thomas married Georgiana Bischoff after divorcing Alma Gonzales. From his second marriage, he has a son named Montana.

In his 30s, Thomas received a diagnosis of cochlear otosclerosis. The disease has an impact on hearing. Richard had already experienced a 50% hearing loss by the time he received a diagnosis. He’s now a hearing aid wearer. He serves as the Better Hearing Institute’s national chairman.

Facts:

  • Thomas was born with a prominent nevus mark on his cheek. Because of that, he was unable to land a TV ad when he was younger.
  • Richard had collided his automobile with another on the day he received the “Emmy Award” while he was considering the honor and his acceptance speech. After winning the prize, he mentioned this fact in his acceptance speech.
  • He provided the voice for a couple of “Mercedes Benz” commercials in 2007.
