Apple has finally realized its mistake and has decided to pay $14.5 million to iCloud subscribers. Due to the accusation of sending storage data to a third party, Apple has decided to pay a big amount of money to avoid the lawsuit.
The news was already spread in the market that Apple has decided to pay the customers. Though the company is still denying the accusation. As per the company, they never gave customers data to any third-party app. But people are sure about the breaching.
People with iPhones/iPad can buy iCloud for extra storage space. If you use MacBook you can also buy an iCloud subscription for more storage. While signing in you will get instant 5Gb storage to use. The plan can be differ depending on how much storage you need. For example, if you need 50Gb, you will have to pay $1.99 dollars in America. Therefore, if you need 2TB storage then you have to pay $11.99. The interesting part is you can share the subscription plan with your family. Though remember that price can be different in your country.
Despite apple’s terms and policy of using their own app for iCloud storage, they gave all the data to a third-party app. The company violated its own policy for the customers. So no doubt customers were very angry at the company. So they started demanding their money back. They threatened to sue Apple.
To protect its reputation, Apple has decided to spend money. Apple will refund all the users who suffered. If you have paid an iCloud subscription between September 16, 2015- January 16, 2016; Then you are eligible for the repayment.
To get the repayment you need a U.S mailing address that is registered with your iCloud storage. You will get a cheque in your email account. Though if you are a class member then you have the option to choose how you want your money. You can choose payment by ACH transfer. If you don’t choose any payment method then you will get the payment in your bank account.
But as per the website, if you choose to sue Apple instead of accepting the money then it’s your own decision. $14.5 million may sound a lot to you but if you think practically every user will get $2.79 dollars. The money will also be distributed to the lawyers. But still, you will get free money. So you can be happy about it.
